Note: This is my second attempt to post this blog. My first attempt, the site ate everything after the introduction to Xanadu.
When a brand-new game console comes out, I like to write a blog about the console that came before it, and talk about my favorite games on it. So now that the Nintendo Switch has been released, I’d like to honor the Wii U and go over my favorite games for that system (not in any particular order).
Hey folks, I’ve got another batch of game reviews over at GamerDad.com that I’ve recently written. Please click on the links here and read as many as you can and maybe post a comment or two. I’d appreciate it, thanks!
So just as I begin playing Disney Infinity 3.0, they cancel the whole series. In fact, Disney is cancelling their whole games division. That's just crazy! D.I. was beating Skylanders for Pete's sake! Well, it seems toys-to-life stuff is dipping in sales across the board and they're getting out before it gets worse. I for one, am still crazy for toys-to-life stuff, so here's what I picked up today:
Every once in awhile, the subject of "which cancelled video game do you wish had been released?" comes up. My answer to this subject is always the same
Hello Pixlbit sorry I haven't been on much but my gaming has been Battle Academy a game im sure 90% of you all are not the least bit interested in, but I did want to let you all know on March 30th im getting a total Hip replacement and im very nervous about it to say the least, I have never broken a bone or had any surgery ever but its something that just happened and nothing I did but my hip is a mess and after 7 years of putting it off the time has finally come.
Sick Boy: It's certainly a phenomenon in all walks of life.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: What do you mean?
Sick Boy: Well, at one time, you've got it, and then you lose it, and it's gone forever. All walks of life: George Best, for example. Had it, lost it. Or David Bowie, or Lou Reed...
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: Some of his solo stuff's not bad.
Sick Boy: No, it's not bad, but it's not great either. And in your heart you kind of know that although it sounds all right, it's actually just shite.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: So who else?
Sick Boy: Charlie Nicholas, David Niven, Malcolm McLaren, Elvis Presley...
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: OK, OK, so what's the point you're trying to make?
Sick Boy: All I'm trying to do is help you understand that The Name of The Rose is merely a blip on an otherwise uninterrupted downward trajectory.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: What about The Untouchables?
Sick Boy: I don't rate that at all.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: Despite the Academy Award?
Sick Boy: That means fuck all. Its a sympathy vote.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: Right. So we all get old and then we can't hack it anymore. Is that it?
Sick Boy: Yeah.
Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: That's your theory?
Sick Boy: Yeah. Beautifully fucking illustrated.

When arcades were all the rage and Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Space Invaders ruled the day, going to the arcade was the ultimate video game experience and they were everywhere. Second to that were home consoles and you had three choices: The Atari's AVCS (later Atari 2600), Mattel's Intellivision, and Coleco's ColecoVision. They had lots of ports of arcade games and a host of original titles perfectly suited to their respective systems. Lastly, you could also play games on the first affordable home computers. In North America you had: the Commodore 64, the Tandy's TRS-80 (I used to call it the Trash 80, but I was just being a snob), the pricey IBM PC 5150 (something a rich Aunt of mine had), or an Apple IIc (the one my parents got). Arcades, consoles, computers. You had it all.
Guild Wars 2 is one of my favorite MMOs to play. I actually have a review on it, if you go to my blog and want to check that out :) I loved the first one as well, along with the sequential expansions. Now, the story of Guild Wars 2 is set 250 years after the events of Guild Wars, and everything is a lot different...which is pretty cool.
Seeing as how I may be a weird and pick Mass Effect 3 Citadel for my GOTY pick (though can definitely not say for sure with how amazing Last of Us, Destiny, Saints Row 4, and Pokemon X/Y look) and got both Fallout games' GOTY/Deluxe editions as a cheaper way to get their DLC, I thought about all the different kinds of DLC that we encounter nowadays. Personally, I think DLC is an amazing thing we have, the problem is that even by Sturgeon's Law standards (for those of you unaware, 90% of everything is crap) way too much of it is bullshit.

As wonderful and awesome as the internet is, it really fucked things up for gamers like me. It wasn’t really an issue in the early stages – that short period of time before it was as all pervasive as it is now. Consoles remained offline for the most part, with only a handful of games offering any kind of online component. Online gaming was for the PC crowd, not the console kids who enjoyed a far more streamlined and simplified gaming experience.

2D Castlevania games have been on a short hiatus since the release of Order of Ecclesia on the Nintendo DS in 2008. Four years later and we’re finally seeing a new title, this one for the Nintendo 3DS. Development has shifted hands to Mercury Stream, the same team behind Castlevania: Lords of Shadow on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Fittingly, the brand new title, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate is set 25 years after the events of the original game, telling the tale of Gabriel’s descendants.

EA’s new service ‘Battlefield 3 Premium’ (available today) will offer players early access to upcoming digital content, exclusive in-game items, and enhanced battle log features. The package is priced at $49.99, a $25 savings over purchasing each expansion pack individually. The offer becomes live today to players who opt for the early access package of Battlefield 3: Close Quarters on the Playstation 3.

Electronic Arts is gearing up to release three separate expansion packs for Battlefield 3. Each pack will have a theme and will be released throughout this year. Close Quarters will be released in June, Armored Kill will be available in the fall and End Game will come out in the winter.

Konami released DLC for NeverDead today and announced another DLC pack to be released next week. The first DLC pack, creatively entitled NeverDead Expansion Pack Volume 1, includes Nikki Summerfield as a playable character, three additional challenges within the Asylum level and two new costumes for Bryce Boltzmann.

Konami has announced that it's going to shut down Metal Gear Online on June 12, 2012. The online combat game has been running since 2008. The company has released a shut down schedule for the game.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City is the physical compilation of the two separate expansion packs for Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. Each episode is completely unique, following a different story and a different set of characters through Liberty City. Though not directly linked to Grand Theft Auto IV, the stories will occasionally wind through the going-ons of Niko, but only as a peripheral occurrence, and clearly only as fan service. Those familiar with the gameplay and style of Grand Theft AUto IV will already know what they should expect from Episodes From Liberty City.

Fans of Metal Gear Online will be excited to know Konami plans to hold four 24-hour survival events to promote the birthdays of Ga-Ko, the duck, and Kerotan, the frog.
