It's fun to go down the Metacritic [MC] list, so I'm doing it again for the stuff I played in 2010. 

What it is: Stuff I played close to the year of release or at least during console generation 7, listed in order of Metacritic ranking for 2008. 

Idealized because I don't own all of these yet, at least, not in physical form. 

I might have gotten confused, frustrated and dead in many of them, but I enjoyed them all. Who says you got to finish stuff? It's the journey not the destination, I say. 

I put away the modern consoles to focus on my retro journey. So all I have up is the GameCube and its Game Boy Player. I put the most time into Metroid Prime, Pikmin, Advance Wars 2, Metroid Zero Mission and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones, but here's everything I played.

I didn't get a whole lot of gaming time on the holidays, which is kind of strange really, but I don't have a family that plays all that much. I did get a few half days with MK playing Army of Ruin though, and I'm gearing up for what I want to play in 2026. 

It's fun to go down the list of best of all time on Metacritic and make a personal list of favorites. Here are mine for the original Xbox. 

I dug into any Nintendo stuff that fits my brick-breaker/fixed screen shooter theme. Then I started a new game list and played what I could without spending anything. Then the usual backups. 

Really, two weeks of stuff here. I swap out consoles like they were cakes on display at a cake shop except for the Xbox Series S, which is always hooked up. 

Can't stop, won't stop. This is my playlist for upcoming November. Recipe: open Metacritic. Limit it to the years 2019-2021. Go from highest to lowest ranked, choosing games I want to play or replay.

2010 was certainly the year of the Wii even though it came out in '06. The top four spots for world wide sales are Wii games with Wii Sports being number 1. Microsoft and Sony tried to imitate Nintendo's success by putting out motion control devices this year with Kinect and Move respectively. Niether did much for thier respective systems. I started blogging this year at 1UP.com. Here are some stuff I played that I would replay and some stuff I missed I'd like to play. 

I remember this year mostly for the being disappointed with the World of Warcaft MMO. I wanted another another strategy WoW. But there was also the release of the DS, which got me back into handheld gaming, and cueing up for my first midnight release for Halo 2. The rest of the world was buying GTA: San Andreas and Pokemon FireRed/Leaf Green, numbers 1 and 2 in sales respectively. Half-Life 2 was a notable winner on Metacritic. Here's some stuff I played and want to play. 

I just finished the last issue of this Witcher comic book story arc. I wasn't all that thrilled with it at first, but its ending changed my mind. 

I made a list of what I played in 2010. Here they are in chronological order. 

Got some Happy Meals at McDonalds to get a few Thor Love and Thunder toys just for fun. I had a lot of rewards points for using the McDees app, so why not? I had hoped the figures worked a bit like Skylanders on the Happy Meal web site, but I couldn't get the one I got to work. I think the "game" just plays a song tied to the figure anyway. Then I played some actual Skylanders on 360 and then switched to Series S for the usual routine. I skipped out on the Switch that day not wanting to plug it into my TV, which only has two HDMI jacks. But I have Triangle Strategy and more Mario + Rabbids to play there.  

Back during the PSOne days, Square released a mascot kart racing game featuring cute versions of their Final Fantasy staple characters.  You know, chocobo, moogle, white and black mages, etc.  It was called Chocobo Racing.  I wanted to get this game when it came out, but I was poor college student at the time and couldn’t afford to get it at full price.  Plus I heard it was getting a lot of bad reviews, so I decided to wait for a while.  Shortly after I graduated college, I found a new copy of Chocobo Racing at a flea market and it was only 20 bucks.  And since I had a bit more disposable income by then, I decided to get it.  And you know what?  Despite it having such bad reviews, I really liked it!  Sure it was no where near as good as Mario Kart or other mascot racers at the time such as Diddy Kong Racing and Crash Team Racing.  But I really liked how they implemented Final Fantasy themes and tropes into the gameplay and presentation.  So when Square-Enix showed a sequel of sorts last year coming to the Switch called Chocobo GP, I was really excited and wanted to get it.  So now I finally have it and I wanted to talk about it and all the characters and tracks found therein.  So let’s get started!
