The 3DS was released this year. Minecraft came out of beta. The highest rated games were Batman: Arkham City, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and Portal 2. Here's a list of what I put the most time into that year followed by stuff I played later and then a wish list.
During my temporary work layoff, I've sometimes visited a museum or game store/arcade. Here's the story in pictures.
I had to hit a couple more Gamestop's on the way to work today to take advantage of the sale on last gen games. Pickings got meager and a few were too pricey for what I think these games are worth. Here's what I got today:
A place down the road from me had their sale games at 50% off and also tax free so this is what I picked up.
Happy Tuesday Pixlbit. Today I thought I would go over the Playstation 3. I like my PS3, and even though I had problems with the original version, the second version I am using is a trooper. I think I got into the PS3 maybe a year or two after its release and I got to see it go from box that offered Linux, to no longer offering it, and to adding trophies. I wish I could say it was the first console I bought digital games for, but I think that goes to the PSP when I was buying Minis and DLC for Rockband. Anyways I do love this system, I still play it (I think I play it more than the PS4) and since GameStop is starting to blow out the games, the PS3 library might grow a lot more this year.
In my earnestness to have games to play on the PS4, I preordered Infamous Second Son and excitedly picked it up on release. If you've followed my blogs even a short while, you know have a horrible habit of putting up games nearly unplayed.
I played a lot of games this first quarter. The first quarter always feels the second wind for the holiday season of games. This one was no different. March was especially stacked with big games like Dark Souls 2, Titanfall, and Infamous 2.

Entire consoles and companies have risen and fallen on the expectations of exclusive, first party titles like Second Son. Often seen as the PS4’s first must buy game, there is a lot on the line with Sucker Punches first foray into the new console. While elements of the game may not live up to the grand expectations, once you make it past the hype still you get a sequel that not only stands on its own, but is also engaging, pretty, and a heck of a lot of fun.
Its was nice to take some time off from work, for the first time in a while I felt like drawing again. However it seems that my time is running out and I'll be heading back to work soon. Lately I've been drawing on 11' X 14' paper which is bigger than what I usually draw on. So I've had no choice but to use my iPad mini's camera; this way I could transfer the photos directly to Photobucket without messing around with USB cords. Thankfully I have Art Studio on my iPad, so I can fix the lighting to my drawings. Now judging by the title, these drawings are just stuff that relates to my previous blog. I would have posted them last time, but I was in hurry and shit happens.
1. Final Fantasy Versus 13 not becoming vaporware- However it is rebranded as Final Fantasy XV, which probably bother's most FF fans. Since it takes a action adventure approach instead of the usual turn based gameplay. Gameplay shown is a lot more cinematic and faster than the previous gameplay video from two years ago. Noctis now joines Nathan Drake and Lara Croft in whatever place they enter; its all going to come crashing down. Damn videogame characters, stop breaking shit. However the game is no longer an exclusive for the Playstation platform, it will a release on the Xbox One as well. On a minor (pfff minor), Kingdom Hearts 3 is finally anounced; I wonder if Tetsura Nomura will finally close out Sora's story. Hmmmmm.......

We’ve known about Infamous: Second Son for a while now, but never did I imagine that the game would look this enticing. Sucker Punch had a strong showing during Sony’s Press Conference with this latest entry into the Infamous universe, and all signs are pointing in the right direction for the series.

Hello, and welcome to a very special edition of Nerds Without Pants! Patrick takes the helm this week for the holiday that was named after him. That...may not be an accurate statement, but the name of the game is all sorts of clever tricks and cons in the world of video games.
Gears of War: Judgement comes out this Tuesday. I’ll be holding off on it, but would like to get it later down the line, preferably if I have a friend to co-op with. But one thing about this game bugs me: That the developers thought Baird of all people deserves to star in a spin off. Baird is a bad character even by Gears of War standards.

Hello again! This week on Nerds Without Pants Julian and Patrick give all of their love to the PlayStation 4. There’s been a ton of negative talk swirling around the new Sony console, and the Pantsless Ones bring a refreshing amount of positive vibes to the discussion. But before that—games!

Sony's press conference this year started off with a bang with a video that served as an overview of what would be shown. The video featured a stable of first party titles as well as some functionality announcements. Assassin's Creed III and Far Cry 3 also made their presence known.
This year has been a crazy year for video games. Many blockbuster titles came out, which only added to the insane list of games that I already own. I played a ton of them, and managed to finish a good amount of them too. My backlog still grows by the month, but this year I completed a great amount. Im just gonna run down a few games I finished, and also mention a few that I almost got through, which I may try to get around to in 2012. Anyway lets start this off!

The Associated Press has named its top 10 video games of 2011 and Glados would be pleased. Portal 2 has taken the gold medal being named the best game of 2011. Released in April, it surpassed other great titles such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
I recently wrote that 2011 was possibly the greatest year in gaming in shear quantity of quality games coming out and PixlBit's GOTY Awards do a good job highlighting how many great games were released this year. It was non-stop goodness throughout 2011 with amazing games to suit everyone’s tastes. Creating this top 10 list was extremely tough. In the end I chose the games in the order in which they demanded my attention. It’s impossible for me to say FIFA 12 is a better game than Resistance 3 or Arkham City because all the games offer vastly different experiences. Therefore, this list is strictly in the order in which I found myself wanting to play these games.

After yesterday's Genre Awards, today we bring you the biggest and best of the year for each of the respective consoles, as well as the best downloadable title of the year, irrespective of the platform it was released. Unlike last year's awards, we didn't segregate multiplatform titles - these were considered alongside the exclusives on each system. Welcome to day two of the...

With the production costs of video games increasing by leaps and bounds as the years go on, platform-exclusive titles are going the way of the dinosaur. Somehow though, Sony has managed to recover from the rocky start of the PlayStation 3 and has secured some really great exclusive games. Developer Sucker Punch is responsible for one of those all-new PS3 IPs, with the inFAMOUS games. While they saw some success with Sly Cooper on the PS2, that franchise never quite “popped” like Ratchet & Clank and the Jak games. It looks like inFAMOUS was just what the upstart developer needed to make it to that next level, and the sequel to the 2009 debut cements the series as one of the best exclusives on the PS3.
The point of the last two blogs is to show I've got an odd relationship with popular games and the gaming media. I don't trust them. I don't think they trust me. It's always been that way. It'll probably keep being that way. I just wanted you to know that when I write my thoughts on the utility, purpose, and audience of video game reviews.

Here's a list of items that will be on sale at WalMart on Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year, which is the day after Thanksgiving. Stand out deals are the Xbox 360 Kinect Bundle and PS3 160 GB bundle.

If you get bored waiting for trick-or-treaters to show up at your door, you're not doing Halloween right. There is not one holiday that could be made better by video games, so allow us to refresh your memory with the best horror-themed games to get you in the spirit of the season. Almost all of these are available in one form or another on current generation consoles or are at least fairly cheap -- and be aware that most are rated M.
