Even from the outset, Pseudoregalia proves to be a fascinating game. Visually, it's striking - evoking the PlayStation 1 - you won't see many games that look quite like it these days, and few, if any, are able to pull off the style successfully. Similar to a title on the PlayStation, you're dropped into the game without much fanfare and with only the ability to jump. You have no map to help you navigate, no weapon to defend yourself, and compared to later in the game, extremely limited mobility. Exploring Castle Sansa and its surrounding areas will net you a sword and upgrades to it, as well as myriad upgrades to your movement abilities, enabling you to reach more parts of the castle.
What it is: Stuff I played close to the year of release or at least during console generation 7, listed in order of Metacritic ranking for 2008.
The first thing that comes to mind is changing my Xbox gamertag. I got one in 2004 when Xbox Live Arcade dropped but a mini-game on an Official Xbox Magazine demo disc was giving me trouble in '07, and I thought a new gamertag would solve it. Well, it did solve it, but I lost touch with my old gamertag over time, and now it's probably been deactivated along with the few games I bought under it. It'll be 20 years on my current gamertag next year. It could've been 23 years if I'd stuck with my original one.
I'm on vacation this week for the most part. LJ and I went to Washington D.C. to visit the Smithsonian Zoo and Museum of the American Indian (also, accidently - 'cause we parked beneath it - the Bible Museum and saw the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit), but I manged to squeeze in some gaming on a few days here and there and last week, which I couldn't report on 'cause Pixlbit was down.
I'm happy to report that the PixlBit 3.0 implementation has been smoothly sailing along. I've been working on it nearly every night that I can muster the energy to do so. The progress has been very satisfying to see and I wanted to take a moment to share some more screenshots and give some details on what's done and what's yet to be implemented. I've been really grinding like mad in Farm Together 2. 112 hours so far exclusively playing it and nothing else. Here's the latest.
Really, two weeks of stuff here. I swap out consoles like they were cakes on display at a cake shop except for the Xbox Series S, which is always hooked up.
Well, I finished Gears of War 3 and played several others partially. I'm happy with my new plan which seems to push me to finish some games. I managed to finish the Mass Effect Trilogy finally.

I funny thing happened on the way to my Switch. A friend I hadn't talked to in years texted me and started a conversation about Animal Crossing. Turns out he'd been playing it during the pandemic. We friended up, I visited his island, and he mine. The whole experience was really cool.

Hey folks, I have some big news for you all! You know how the Super Mario Bros. Movie is coming out soon, right? Well if you go to see it, make sure to watch the credits because my name is in there under “Plumbing Consultant.” You see, in the movie, it shows the bros. as plumbers, and the animators needed to make sure the pipes they were working on looked correct. And since I work in the plumbing section of a major hardware store chain (true story), they had me do that. So why didn’t they hire a real plumber for that? Well, licensed plumbers are expensive, and they wanted to save some money so they had me do it instead. And because I do work for a major hardware store, they’re partnering with the Mario movie to sell special plumbing tools. So for a limited time, you can get plumbing wrenches, pipe cutters, and plungers with red or green handles, like Mario and Luigi!

Today the flooding shut down work so I played. I caught up with my general and Game Pass rewards quests, bought a new game, and dove back into Minecraft for a bit.
...a wild variety of games as I complete Game Pass quests and try and clear my hard drive going from smallest file size to largest. Sometimes I even add a new game or get a new addition on Game Pass just because. Makes for a chaotic but fun and hyper game session - just how I like it.
This generation of gaming has been all about reviving and re-releasing old classic games in the name of cashing in on nostalgia, errr, preserving the history of video games. Among the latest games to make a reappearance from the dead are a pair of 16-bit LucasArts classics, namely, Zombies Ate My Neighbors and its lesser-known sequel, Ghoul Patrol, in a downloadable double-pack on all the major consoles and PC.
