Games of the Decade: Expansion Pass #11/Blog a Day #20
Games of the Decade: Expansion Pass #29/Blog a Day #2
2018 came and went and to be honest, I just didn't really feel this year. There were some fine games that came out, sure, but as opposed to last year where my top 10 list had left out games I adored, I had a hard time thinking up a top 5 list worthy enough. Granted, if I put in more time into Red Dead Redemption 2, Soul Calibur 6, and a few other games that might change, but I still feel original games were lacking. What wasn't lacking, however, were the games I missed out on before and played for the first time. So I'm gonna tack on a list from other years as well as they represented what I played better than just the new games. And I'll be mixing them with my other games this year as well to give an idea of what I enjoyed more than others.
Since Kiwami means Extreme, not really. It's a pretty mild problem; also one I only have the luxury of being entwined in because I'm still looking for gainful employment.

Back when Crash Bandicoot hit the scene, I was a firmly entrenched Nintendo fanboy. Crash, to me, was a second rate 3D platformer that was put to utter shame by the fantastic platformer offerings of the N64. I’ll admit, the N. Sane Trilogy has done little to elevate the core material for me, but it does leave me wishing that other companies would show as much love and care to their older 3D games as Vicarious Visions has shown here.
Wii U games that should make the Switch
What I learned yesterday is that many games follow a pattern of: level progression, then a boss fight, then repeat. I've developed a sort of dread of those boss fights as I sense their approach. They do, however, make a good bookmark in a game, a place to stop for a while just after they're done. Notes to follow.
2017 was a pretty good year for me, personally, all things considered, and a great year for video games. Nothing really changed much for me aside from getting used to my job and having things go fairly smoothly from there, unlike 2016 where I crashed and burned at work, then emotionally, then physically.
I just posted a blog about my gaming in 2017. But what about the ones I couldn't get to?
Hey guys, sorry I've been away for so long. Had a bit of a depressive slump, had a bit of a breakdown, had some life shit. It's okay though, I'm feeling a lot better now! Getting therapy, on decent meds and whatever, and while I still have my blue periods (gross), I'm a lot healthier and have a lot more confidence in myself. I know I was a complete and utter self destructive asshole who got swept up in being super selfish and in general kind of a cunt. At the same time though, I now recognise that I am getting better. I'm feeling empathy again, which means I also feel a lot of guilt over some things I have done that I don't overly want to go into here, but I also recognise that it's all part of getting better. Sometimes you have to feel worse to get better.
10 Years of Super Mario Galaxy!
1. Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris: I finished the main story. I started looking for collectibles. The environments are really gorgeous in that top-down perspective that reminds me of Diablo a bit. The gameplay reminded me a bit of God of War even though it's mainly shooting and not hand-to-hand or chainblade-to-hand fighting. So I searched down some collectibles until I realized you had to get all the challenges in an area for an achievement, not just the collectibles. That requires a lot of replay doing things like only using a certain weapon, or beating a boss in a certain amount of time. I was tempted but didn't go for it. Maybe later.
I really wanted to like Yooka Laylee. I really did. But it just did not rub me the right way at all.
My hype for E3 is OVER 9000!!!
