Yeah, not doing any more 70s games but I will just mention Space Invaders Extreme 2 as being awesome before moving onto my theme for this month, twin-stick shooters.
Following the crash landing of Solo at the box office you may have read of “Star Wars fatigue.” It’s a phantom illness that is being blamed for audiences’ alienation of affection for Star Wars movies after 41 years of wedded bliss. The fans are not tired of Star Wars—they are in an uproar over the direction that the president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy has taken the franchise. The fans are centrally angry that after 30 years of waiting for the continuation of Luke Skywalker’s story, he never saw any action and died at the end (was killed by director/writer Rian Johnson). The other issue with fans has been the political shift from focus on authoritarianism/militarism toward identity and party politics. Snoke is Trump, Poe Dameron’s mutiny represents the Bernie Bros, and the leadership of the Resistance are all elderly, affluent women (Clinton, Warren, Pelosi). continued after break...
Christ on a bicycle its been a good year for games. I've been thinking of what i was going to put on my top 10 games of the year list and this is the not narrowed down list. This is the list of every game that I like and think people should play. There are a lot. Over thirty, and I have the feeling I've forgotten something important.
Ok, there's still more E3 shit to cover, but fuck that. I've been playing things, watching things, and just all round have some things to say. I'll get back to E3 tomorrow, because there are still some seriously interesting games to cover, but for now, let's talk about games that are out.
Well, so much for the "Cleaning up My Vita" idea. Over the past couple weeks I have been trying out a lot of my PS+ games, but if I am not feeling them within 30 minutes, I delete them. I know that it could be percieved as being a little unfair, but I should know early on if I am going to like a game or not. Let's see if I can remember some of the games that just weren't for me. A Virus named Tom was one of them, and Flame Over, Nova-111, Shutshimi, Nihilumbra, Actual Sunlight, Rocketbirds, and Nidhogg come to mind. I also played through Organ Trail once, they made some design choices that made me think the iOS version was better. I have also added to my endless Vita backlog. Recently, I have downloaded Helldivers, Risk of Rain, A Boy and His Blob, Tachyon Project and Axiom Verge.
Oh man! I didn't think there'd be this much new stuff from Gamescom, but there is. Here's a whole heap of trailers that I liked.
There are many great announcements but I will get to one particular one first. It is Microsoft announcing that the next Tomb Raider game is exclusive to Xbox One. As a XB1 owner I will get and play the game but I am not happy about it. Why is that? I feel Microsoft secured the title out of laziness on their part to do more in-house development. It might be cheaper to just buy out third party titles but it also does little to help Microsoft in the long road.
