Around this time of year, I like to make a list of my best games SO FAR, because usually the AAA titles are released later in the year during the holiday season, and the titles that came out earlier tend to be forgotten. So here’s when those games get their due. Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed. And if a game isn’t on this list, it either just didn’t appeal to me as much or I haven’t had a chance to play it yet. Ok with that out of the way, let’s begin!
Yesterday, Sony dropped a few bombs on the gaming world - first, they are discontinuing support of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita stores by next year, at the latest, with support ending immediately in some areas. Second, they will cease production of physical games by January 2028 for all releases on PlayStation consoles, leaving only another year and half before you'll no longer be able to grab the latest games pressed to a disc.
It’s always nice to get to review a game I really wanted to play. It happens less and less nowadays. So as a big Bluey fan and genuinely interested in good games for kids, I’m glad I got to review this first game on my review blog list. Next up in my trek through the consoles is the PS2. This will take a while because I have a lot more games for it than previous consoles and the games are a bit longer, reflecting the improvement in technology. But first, two games I forgot to play in the previous weeks.

So, that Acer Aspire laptop I blogged about last time? Screen doesn't come on. I've got to get this repaired (and hope that it doesn't cost too much) so until then, I'm using my trusty, won't-die Samsung Chromebook that I got back in 2017.
My brother and nephew have just made their first “Let’s Play” style YouTube video, so I thought I’d share it with you here. They play an Xbox One game called Party Animals, where plush toy animals fight to the death. I’ve played it before with them, and while I don’t understand the appeal, my nephew just loves it! Greetings, lonely wanderers of the silent Pixlbit corridors! It's time for another update from the Little Ranger! I'm wrapping up my two weeks of rest and relaxation between my winter job at the pet supplies store and the park. I start at the park on Tuesday, and I'm looking forward to it. We have major infrastructure renovations happening, and it makes me ever so happy. New bathroom building, a second outhouse, and a brand new entrance booth with electricity, internet, and windows that open! Those buildings were 50+ years old and were showing their age and it wasn't pretty. We also have new equipment, which also makes me vey happy. Now, if only we had a building to house it in to keep it nice... Anyway, here's the weekly rundown.

I went to Classic Game Junkies on Friday and traded a bunch of Atari 2600 games for three Sega Genesis games. While I was there, I heard a rumble and then the whole store started shaking. A little later I learned that there was an earthquake of 4.8 magnatude about 50 miles away in New Jersey. There aren't many earthquakes on the East coast of the U.S.. Last one I remember was in 2011. Anyway, here are the three games and a little info about them.
Much more than just Shmups this week but I played a lot of Shumps and finally had my fill of getting beaten down. I think I'll put the Shmups aside for the rest of the month. So I've also been exploring games of the late 80s both from hits lists and my own lists. I've got the Switch, Retron 3 and Xbox Series S all running and sourcing whatever I can find. So here goes.

Well good morning and long time no talk. Since the last time I posted here I’ve had some changes in life. The last time I wrote a blog here was a couple of years ago? No idea why I stopped but I did, anyways I am back so let’s do a little catching up
It’s the end of the year so you know what that means? It’s time for my “Best Video Games of 2023 Awards Show!” Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed. And if a game isn’t on this list, it either just didn’t appeal to me as much or I haven’t had a chance to play it yet. Ok with that out of the way, let’s begin!
GameCube, GBA and Xbox were all released. Pokemon games won all sales awards across the board, again. Amongst the highest critically were: Halo, GTA III, Grand Turismo 3 and Final Fantasy X. Dreamcast was discontinued this year, which was probably when I got one on the cheap as GameStop started shipping them all back to their warehouses. I probably got a Xbox on the strength of Halo, Gamecube for the Rogue Squadron sequel, and a PS2 for the Red Faction port. Here's a bunch of games I played around that time, then alter, and then ones I'd like to play now.
