Knocked off a bunch more in the 360 collection. I was writing down all the digital only games I wanted to play on 360 and came across a lot of them. I own a lot more than I remember and there are ones I missed as well. This is just adding to my "collection" and making getting through 360 a real chore. I passed my usual burnout on year-long gaming projects a month ago, so I think I'm good for the distance now. Here's this week's plays plus a few buys.

Games Beaten 

Quite a lot has happened gaming wise for me in the last two weeks. I finished up with Twin-Stick and Isometric shooters and discovered several new franchises and another racing game I love. So here goes it. 

Yeah, not doing any more 70s games but I will just mention Space Invaders Extreme 2 as being awesome before moving onto my theme for this month, twin-stick shooters. 

A half-a-day left to game, but I had some time to write, and so here's what I've played so far. 

Stumbled across another Halo book, started reading, and then realized I'd read it before, but I continued on and finished it, enjoying it quite a bit, so much so, that I looked for a continuation of the story and found it in Halo: Renegades (reading now) and Halo: Last Light, all written by Kelly Gay. 

It’s the end of the year so you know what that means?  It’s time for my “Best Games of 2022 Awards Show!”  Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed.  And if a game isn’t on this list, it either just didn’t appeal to me as much or I haven’t had a chance to play it yet.  Ok with that out of the way, let’s begin!

Sometime in May 1986, Japanese arcades saw the release of a brawler called Nekketsu Koha Kunio-kun (roughly meaning Hot-Blooded Tough Guy Kunio in English). It stars Kunio- a miscreant high schooler fighting for a classmate being picked on by rival gangs. The game is notable for being the first brawler to feature an urban setting and introduced many trademarks common to the genre- a tough guy protagonist, themes of street justice, generic thugs, female villains, and so on. The game underwent significant revisions for its Western release and subsequent NES port, including a name change to Renegade and the story wholly disconnected from its source material.

I figure that number reflects my 25 years worth of gaming since 1995. I've mastered this pastime twice over if you believe in the 10k hours to master a craft idea. Anyway, this is what I did this 2609th day of gaming. 

WORST.  YEAR.   EVER.  I think we can all agree that 2020 has been one of the worst years in our lifetime, what with the Coronavirus, quarantines, riots and looting, politics, and much more.  And it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, as I just found out my mom has breast cancer (keep us in your prayers).  Some days I wonder if we’ll EVER get through this.  2020 can just suck it!  But at least we’ve had some good video games come out to help keep our minds off of this dumpster fire of a year.  So here’s my Best Games of 2020 Awards Show! But keep in mind that this is my list and my picks only, no outside opinions and whatnot.  And if a game isn’t on my list, it either just didn’t appeal to me or I haven’t played it yet.  Can’t play ‘em all, you know!  But with that out of the way, let’s take a look at my picks.

I hate to admit it, but I’ve had a hard time dealing with all this Coronavirus stuff.  Well, I guess it hasn’t been TOO bad, but bad enough that I’m a bit disappointed with myself for not dealing with it better.  But I’m still really scared and anxious about all of it.  I have to say that I’m super happy that Animal Crossing: New Horizons came out when it did.  Couldn’t have come out at a better time.  It gave me a sense of normalcy and saneness during all of this.  I’m also glad that I’m still able to review games for that same sense of normalcy.  Speaking of which, here are more games I’ve reviewed lately over at GamerDad.com.  Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two.  I’d really appreciate it!

Blog a Day #22

Well good morning Pixlpeeps! It is a nice Saturday morning and I am still in bed watching TV. For some odd reason my cable company now offers the Smithsonian Channel and I’ve been watching it non stop since the end of the Rose Bowl Parade. They have a series called Aerial America where it’s a little bit history, and just views of different parts of the country. It is an amazing show and currently I am watching an epsisode about water. It has all these views and it is amazing. Anyways as I lay here I am debating on going to the library, and checking out their offerings for today but before I do so, let’s catch up a bit.

I would like to say that I’ve been more creative with the games I’ve played over the past week, but it has been more of the same with me, except I did throw in some Switch gaming last night while watching parts of the Stanley Cup Finals/Raw/the local news. I really should dive into the Steam library and play some of the stuff I have installed but haven’t touched, and heck finish the games I already started. That is my current situation.

Earlier this morning I was supposed to go to the dealership to get the oil on the truck changed. Instead I moved it back a bit because I may have woken up a tad bit late due to watching not only the West Coast late airing of Billions (best show on Showtime) but watching the end of Fast and Furious (F&F 4) on another Showtime but then finding the original F&F was on yet another Showtime channel, probably their action one. Instead here we are, not at the dealership or at my usual spot, on a treadmill complaining about weird guy who dipped himself in Axe Body spray, I am here in front of a laptop typing out my thoughts for games I played this past week including one game I finished.

Jazz Jackrabbit headed to GBA this year, but I still remember playing it on PC at the neighbors'.
