The year is already half over, so it’s that time for me to do my Best Games of the Year SO FAR Awards Show! Most of the big name games come out in the later half of the year during the holiday season, so sometimes the games that come out in the first six months tend to be forgotten. Well this is where those games get their due! Keep in mind that no outside opinions went into making this list, and since it’s my list, if a game didn’t appear on here, I either haven’t played it yet or it just didn’t appeal to me as much. OK with that out of the way, let’s begin!
I met my baby nephew, Patrick, while visiting my brother and sister-in-law Sunday afternoon. Pat is adorable like you read about and I think he's in good hands. I wasn't there for long: maybe 90 minutes tops before they had to leave for family pictures. I'll see them again this coming Sunday when the baby shower drops. My brother and sis-in-law tried for adoption for 4 years and they lucked out with this little guy.
Hey guys, so I'm finally, mostly, back in commission. I definitely got the flu and it's been super horrible. Just went to the doc this morning because I definitely have a follow-on sinus infection that's resulted in the most brutal of headaches that won't subside. Truthfully, it's been hard to do anything feeling this shitty, but I did manage to sneak a few games in during the moments where I felt ok enough. Just going to go through them all below with my thoughts:
Hello to everyone here on Pixlbit. It's been way too long since I last blogged but 2018 wasn't an easy year to keep in touch for reasons I'll soon explain. My last blog was in late March '18 and that was after I had been let go from a decent paying job and not knowing what my next step was going to be in regards to keeping my residence and not falling behind in bills.

To celebrate the recent release of Kirby Star Allies for Nintendo Switch, let’s look at another Kirby game that came out earlier this year that I just now got around to playing. It’s Kirby Battle Royale, a 3DS game featuring four player battle style mini-games with Kirby and his different copy abilities. There are ten different types of arenas to battle in, and they’re all pretty interesting enough to be deemed ‘blog-worthy’ by me, so let’s take a look at them! Also be sure to stick around to the end, as I’ve got some news about HAL Laboratory (creators of Kirby), and their first new mobile game!
We’re going to do things a little differently this month. Usually at the beginning of January I’ll post my Game of the Year blog, and then I’ll write a blog after that about the games I’m looking forward to in the coming year. But this time we’re going to reverse that and I’m going to do my looking forward blog first. There’s a couple of reasons why I want to do it that way. First, there’s a couple of games that are coming out early this year that I want to put on this list before they’re actually released. And second, I want to wait a bit on my Game of the Year blog so I have time to play a couple of games that came out last year to see if they’ll make my list. So that blog won’t go up until later on in January. Hope nobody minds. Anyway, let’s take a look at some of the games that are coming out next year, at least the ones I know about anyway.
Recently I reviewed Namco Museum on Nintendo Switch. So now I thought I’d go over each of the games in this arcade classics collection in more detail. So welcome to the Namco Museum! For the longest time, I didn’t own Sony’s newest handheld, the PS Vita. Which may seem strange at first, because I loved the PSP, Sony prior handheld. In fact, other than the Neo Geo Pocket Color, the PSP was the only other handheld I bought that wasn’t made by Nintendo! There were lots of PSP games I loved to play: Loco Roco and its sequel, Ys Seven, Half-Minute Hero, Gurumin, Mega Man Powered Up, and many more. But the Vita just didn’t have as many games that I wanted to play, or at least not enough to warrant purchasing one. But after a few years they’ve built up enough games that interest me, and since I couldn’t think of anything to ask my family to get me for Christmas, I just threw a Vita on my list and to my surprise I got one late last year as a present! So here’s my impressions on the Vita and some games I got for it (probably a little too late, but hey, better later than never).
Well another summer is almost over, and I watched a lot of summer movies in theaters this year. So I thought I’d write a blog with brief impressions on them! Keep in mind that there MIGHT be some slight spoilers here and there, but I’ll try to keep them to a minimum. So grab your popcorn and see what I watched this summer!
Hello fellow citizens of Pixlbit. School has been piling me with a whole bunch of homework so I haven't had the time to write on here. Over the weeks I've purchased a few things that I may not recall. So I'll try to remember.
It's been a horribly stressful week since my last update. My mom's in the hospital, she's still pretty sick, but is a lot better than she was. I took some time off work to stay with my grandmother while my mom's in the hospital, and I was supposed to be back to work by this AM. On my way home last night, I stopped to fill up my car, and discovered that the gas was coming out as fast as it was going in. Of course this was 8:30 PM on a Friday. And no where near home. One crumb of comfort - it happened the next town over from where I have family, and my cousin Kyler came and rescued me. My aunt and uncle have been on vacation for about a month, so he was glad for the company. We stayed up late talking about outdoorsy stuff, games, women and gaming, game design and mechanics, Firefly, anime, watched How to Train Your Dragon, and I watched him play a couple of levels of Sony Battle Royale before I had to call it a night. We continued the coversation the next morning, and he gave me some tips on how to use my DSLR (yes, Joe, I appreciate that you keep offering, but it makes more impact on my brain when I have it right in front of me). And he drove me back to my grandmother's this afternoon.
