I’m trying to think back throughout the past week to see if anything sticks out and at first nothing popped into my head but as I was typing this I remembered a couple of things. Crazy how that works. Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is a somewhat chilly Friday morning here in Southern California and yesterday I made a comment about how in November the minute it hit 75° I was wearing a hoodie and jeans but yesterday it was 66° and I went out in a windbreaker and some basketball shorts. Crazy how things work out. Also windbreaker and basketball shorts is one pair of slides away from being super lazy, but I wore shoes so I was good. Anyways let’s get started with the things I remembered before I forget them.
It’s that time of year again! It’s the Cary’s Best Games of 2019 Awards Show blog! Keep in mind that no outside opinions went into the making of this list. It’s just my own picks. And if a game is missing from my list, it either didn’t appeal to me as much, or I just simply haven’t played it yet. Can’t play all the games out there, you know!
Since 2019 is, for all intents and purposes, over, I am posting my top 10 games of the year for 2019.
I’ve cooked up a smorgasbord of game reviews I’ve recently written at GamerDad.com for you all to munch on! Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two! I’d appreciate it. Bon appetit!
In the first part of my 3DS tribute blog, we looked at my favorite downloadable games. Now we’re going to look at my favorite physical cartridge games. Now of course, you could download many of these games, too, but I had them in cartridge form so they’re going here. There’s a lot to cover so let’s get started!
My Hype for E3 is Over 9000!!!
Mostly failure in the games I played today but ended on a higher note, and then I had fun adding a bunch more short-play games to my list to check out.
Im running behind today, overall not a bad day just a tad crazy. I only have 1 more work day and I'm off. I havent gotten to jump back on RE2 and Ill now be fighting with myself on what to play. Tomorrow God Eater 3 arrives and MHW just dropped its Witcher crossover update. Its unfair I say. Too much to play, I also not long ago started Kingdom Hearts 2. Im getting really good at shooting myself in the foot. Im hoping to play God Eater a little bit before sleeping for work tomorrow but maybe Ill dedicate that to RE2....
We talked about the novels I read last year (in two parts!) and I did most of that reading at work. At home it's tough reading prose because I have small kids and when those kids go to bed I like to play video games. But comics and manga, for whatever reason, that I can do at home and I got through a good deal.
NIS America recently released a collection of some of SNK’s arcade hits on the Switch. While SNK is mostly known for their fighting games and NEO GEO, before then they made other arcade games, too, and that’s what this collection is all about. So no King of Fighters or other NEO GEO games. Mostly pre-90’s stuff here. But despite having a lot of army themed shooters, this is still a pretty good collection, so I thought I’d go over the games on it today.
MY HYPE FOR E3 IS OVER 9000!!!

To say that EA is having a bit of a problem with public perception would be a massive understatement. In the past year they have come under fire for predatory micro transaction practices, cancelled a highly anticipated Star Wars game, stated that single player games are a dying breed, and shuttered yet another well-regarded development team. Their lackluster E3 presentation didn’t do much to help matters. Sure, EA is doing gangbusters as far as sales and revenue, but they have burned up so much good will with their customers that it’s easy to see a scenario where they find themselves in a tough position, relying on their yearly Madden and FIFA games to keep them afloat. As someone who has a complicated relationship with their brand, I have some ideas on how EA can win players over, and move strongly into the upcoming next generation.
February is usually a bad month and I’m ready for it to be over. But this year, February wasn’t TOO bad for me, but it’s still nice that it’s March now and we know Spring is coming soon. So to celebrate, here’s a new blog with game reviews I’ve written recently over at GamerDad.com. Please click on and read as many as you can, and maybe even post a like or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK, let’s begin.
Only 80s babies will remember these. Anyone heard of them or collect them? I had some when I was a kid and ended up keeping them because they're freakin awesome looking. 2 weeks ago I bought some of the newer ones, which, it seems, are only sold in Japan. They finally arrived today so I threw together an unboxing video full of FACTS!
In the second part of my look at the characters in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, we’ll go over the fighters on the Capcom side. I’m way more into video games (obviously, since I review them) than I am comic books, so hopefully I’ll sound a bit more knowledgeable here. So let’s dive right in. Oh yeah, some slight Story Mode spoilers here and there may happen, so you’ve been warned.

I used to love playing baseball when I was a kid. But the one part I hated about Little League was the participation trophies at the end of the year. I was on some really bad teams and really good teams and on both we got more or less the same reward. Even as a kid I could tell that trophy was meaningless despite the fun I had playing during the season. Like Little League Baseball, Super Mario Odyssey provided me with a ride that is an absolute blast along the way, yet failed to provide a rewarding experience.
I finally got Onedrive to accept my screenshot/video clip shares. So here's all my Fable II stuff so far.
I am now on the Superchargers figures. This is the fifth game in the series. It came out in 2015, which is about when I started collecting them because Superchargers didn't do as well as the previous games and Gamestop started their buy 1-get-2-free sale on figures right after the holidays. All the game starter packs were marked down too.
So confirmed in news recently was the announcement by Nintendo that the SNES Classic was coming. After a successful limited run of the NES classic which came packed with 30 games for $60, the SNES classic will come with 21 games and will run for $80. It's set to be released on Sep. 29th, 2017 so prepare to visit Nintendo's website everyday to see when you can pre-order yours because if you know how the NES Classic went down...just take a look at ebay prices...ouch. However, you may probably have an SNES emulator of some kind already on your computer... and well...you probably won't need this anyways.
I think I've mentioned before on here that my favority comic is Archie's Mega Man series, which is written by a guy named Ian Flynn. Or, I should say, was written. The series has gone on indefinite hiatus
But before Flynn wrote Mega Man he became the head writer for the Sonic comic. After reading the Worlds Collide crossover event (Mega Man and Sonic is a weird combination but it worked), I decided to dip my toe in the Sonic pool since I already liked the writer. Plus, Sonic got a soft reboot after Worlds Collide that started the TPs back at 1, so it was a good time to jump on the bandwagon and the books have been good so far. ANYWAY. Archie also published a line of TPs called Sonic Saga Series that starts with Flynn's first story arc as head writer. I've been meaning to get it for a while and finally did. It's called The Darkest Storm
