What if Doctor Who had started as an American show? That's what one BuzzFeed community member asked himself and then tried to answer. Who might have played the Doctor? Click below to find out! I wouldn't give up my British Doctors but it is fun to imagine what might have been in some alternate universe Smile

Hello everyone! Following my 1 year blog I think I just sort of dropped off the map, but I plan to fully fix that with BaD! I only did BaD on the weekends last year to sort of test the waters, but this time I came up with a list of topics I want to cover and I fully intend to do so! Here goes:

The Banner Saga has a really nice title screen.

Just a quick couple of things as long as I am thinking about it. I have not had a chance to put much of any time into The Banner Saga. The title screen is really nice, but that is about as far as I have gotten. Since I quit Cookie Clicker I have returned my laptop to its original storage place under the couch. It usually sits there until I get the urge to update my phone with more Doctor Who. So, I will have to make an extra special effort to pull out the Banner Saga and sadly I do not see that happening anytime soon... I just remembered that I have MLK day off so maybe I will test it out then.

Random thoughts compiled into an update of sorts...

Hi guys! Long time no see. So, last time I tried explain some of my hatred for christianity, I got a little carried away. This time, I want to get away from ranting and raving like a lunatic. I also want to get away from insulting anyone for their beliefs, because realistically, that's one of the reasons I fell away from Christianity to begin with. Also, some of this stuff is quite personal, so I apologise in advance for that. Anyway, here we go.

Happy New Year! And uh,catching up.

I have been trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to say all day. I have scrapped three or four different drafts because they never felt quite right. I am really hoping that this draft sticks because I am getting a little sick of deleting my work.

In which I ramble on... update.

Yesterday I sat down to bitch about how Amazon had increased the minimum order cost in order to qualify for free shipping. Halfway through I decided to actually see how this change would affect me, and realized that most of my orders had been over the new limit, $35. I then felt that finishing would be foolish so I deleted what I had written.
I have been all over the place these past couple of weeks with the media that I have consumed. On the videogame front, I have been playing Etrain Odyssey Untold but have also been jumping around. EOU needs to be played in marathon sessions, half hour chunks is not how I would like to play the game. This has lead me on a hunt to find shorter, action oriented games to play in those short chunks of time before work, or while I am waiting for dinner to finish in the oven. I have been messing around with Kid Icarus on the 3DS and just picked up El Shaddai. I chose Kid Icarus because of Jeremy Parish's Anatomy of a Game, and El Shaddai because of Backlogger's Anonymous. I really appreciate Backlogger's because they have been enough of an inspiration to play through Mirror's Edge. I hope to enjoy El Shaddai, and am really curious as to the next game they will be working through... Anatomy of a Game has been equally inspiring. I played through Metroid and The Legend of Zelda for the first time this year and enjoyed both games, but prefer the superior sequels. To finish my thoughts on videogames for the moment, I am tempted to get both Arkham Origins and Blackgate. We will see how I feel later this week when they both are released.
With the new television season under way I have been catching up on last season episodes. The biggest show that I have been working through with my wife is Elementary. I like the new twist on Sherlock Holmes mythos and I also like the fact that there are more than 3 episodes in a season... Yes, the BBC version is amazing, but I want more and Elementary does a good job of satiating that hunger. Doctor Who's 50th anniversary is coming up in exactly a month and I am patiently waiting for it to come around. Thankfully there are hundreds of episodes from the classic era that I have not watched. This has made the incredibly long wait since Season 7 ended bearable.
I had an awesome day at Half-Price Books over the weekend. I finally found a cheap copy of Foundation by Asimov and a copy of Rendezvous with Rama. While I have been wanting to read both of those books the great find was actually some Philip Jose Farmer. I have had difficulty finding anything by him at the 2 stores in my area. I found the sequel to To your Scattered Bodies Go and also a copy of The Gate of Time. The best part was The Gate of Time was from the first printing and was only $.25. I could not believe it, normally they put those types of books in a sleave and charge $4.
The only other stuff that I have been consuming is a lot of podcasts and music. My brother just told me about the Alton Browncast, and after listening to the first episode I may be hooked. I have always liked Good Eats and his podcast seems to be quite informative and entertaining. As far as music, I seem to be moving backwards towards all of the music that I used to listen to through college. The only difference is that when I am at home I like to listen on my turntable. I just need to find copies of the albums that I have been listening to on vinyl... I think that I will try to link a couple of videos below...
Was there anything else I wanted to say? I grabbed Nier as well

Blog a Day 4: My most focused blog of the week

Day 4. This is unprecedented and I suppose that I will have the same reaction tomorrow when I sit down and write something up. Since I have already posted a blog a day for the first three days of October I am going to try and write a blog a day. This may only end up lasting a week, but I will definitely try to make it to the end of the month. Probably the biggest reason that I would like to try this is because my thought process has been slowly clearing up as the days go by. There are two specific things that I wanted to go over today, and I will probably ramble onto a third or fourth item by the end of it.
I have been doing a little Christmas shopping already. I already know what my wife wants and I thought that I may as well order some stuff early. Along with what I ordered for her, I also picked up some stuff that I felt was a good or great deal. A 32 GB memory card for the Vita was only $45 at Best Buy and I had to jump on that. Also, classic Doctor Who has been on special throughout the year for the 50th anniversary and I thought that I would order a couple more stories. I have been working through the Black Guardian Trilogy and decided to get a couple more Peter Davison stories, Resurrection of the Daleks and The Ark of Infinity. Rayman Legumes on Vita dropped to $30 and so I grabbed that because I have been working on Oranges and have been wanting a portable platformer. I did recently get PS+ just for the Vita games. Not to waste the opportunity, I made sure that my brother logged onto my account on his PS3 and add the games to my download list. I want to be prepared in case I actually replace my old PS3.
I have decided to sit down and try to speedrun through Metroid Fusion. I am not going to try and beat the best time out there, 48 minutes, but I would like to challenge myself and see how quickly I can do it. I practically know the game by heart and the moment I step back into Samus' shoes I can remember nearly everything about the game. If I put on the song "Blue and Yellow" by the used, I am sure that I can remember the rest. I listened to that song throughout my first couple of times through the game so I am sure that it will stimulate some long dormant memories. The time that I am going to try for is going to be 75 minutes, but I fully expect it to take a couple of playthroughs, but I think that I can do it.
I am going to leave it there and will hopefully be back tomorrow.

A scatterbrained update.

I cannt think straight right now, my thought process is all over the place. I do feel the need to sit down and write, so I apologize if I end a paragraph mid-sentence. It has been a while since I have sat down and written anything so I fe
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages was the last game that I have actually finished. That was about 2 weeks ago, and I have not been able to settle into another game since. I bounced around games like Rayman Oranges. While I did enjoy Rayman, I had issues with the controls and set it back down after finishing a couple of worlds. I had picked up a Vita and messed around with that, playing a bit of Killzone: Liberation, Hotline Miami, and Symphony of the Night. Nothing has stuck so far, until last night. I really hate bouncing around games and prefer to just settle into the next one and finish it before moving on. Luckily I may have found it in A Link to the Past. I sat down for 2 hours or so and have been flying through the game. I have finished it a dozen or so times, so I expect to finish it with everything within the week.
I have also been watching a lot of stuff. My wife and I started and caught up on White Collar over the past month or so and are impatiently waiting for it to come back for season 5. I powered through a bunch of classic Doctor Who. Stories like, The Ambassadors of Death, Inferno, The Sea Devils, Planet of the Daleks, Frontier in Space, Ark in Space, Full Circle, and State of Decay. I will finish up th E-space trilogy with Warriors gate sometime this weekend. I also watched Ghostbusters again, love that film, and also Let Sleeping Corpses Lie.
I have also done a lot of beer sampling. I have been getting into rye ales, and have been picking up as many as I can find. I tried Hop Rod Rye, Southern Tier 2x Rye, He'brew R.I.P.A. Schell's Emerald Rye, 3 Floyd's Rye'da Tiger and New Holland's Rye Hatter. Most of them were very tasty.
I feel so scatterbrained right now...  Oh yeah, I remember enjoying the little bit of Hotline Miami that I played on the PC.  That is not the case on the Vita, not sure why...  maybe it isn't as good as everybody says.

To begin I have a hypothetical question.  If your vision was such that you could see the world in black and white and one other colour, what would that colour be?  I am thinking of this along the lines of Schindler's List.  Everything that you would see would be black and white, except for this one colour.

To say that I haven't posted a blog in about two months, would be putting it slightly. Let's just say that I haven't gotten time to blog, i've been busy with some stuff and when there's an opportunity to post something, the link to go to TV Tropes invites me to spend time on that page. But enough with real life, let's have a new entry of TIHBD.

It has been a crummy week so far. Today started off poorly, but seems to be getting better. A good cup of coffee, and apparently sobelman's after work. Sobelman's is a burger joint that went head to head against AJ Bombers on Food Wars... Bombers won. I have been to AJ Bombers before, and they are good. The Barrie Burger is pretty tasty, a peanut butter bacon cheeseburger.
I hope to finally figure out how to set up my internet. It has been giving me grief ever since AT&T said that it was okay to set up the modem. I even tried to swap out my 1960s phone jack for something a little more modern.
I hope to finish the Legend of Zelda over the next few days. It is well designed, but I cannot say that I like how they re-used a lot of the bosses in the later dungeons.
I hope that the PS4 is released a week or two before the Xbox One.
I hope that they make a sequel to Man of Steel. I really want to see Lex Luthor, the greatest criminal mind the world has ever known.
I hope that they make an awesome choice, and choose somebody in their 40s to replace Matt Smith on Doctor Who.
I hope that 3 Floyd's Blackheart is as awesome as the style of beer would have me believe. An English style India Pale Ale, aged in oak barrels.

4 New TV Shows You Need To Watch

I'm not a massive fan of movies. They need to be experienced in a single sitting, and the meticulously crafted world that you fell in love with is over within two hours. I much prefer video games, and television series for their ability to draw me in for hours and hours, and gifting me with the ability to leave whenever I wish. Since I already talk about video games enough, here are four new shows you need to watch ASAP!

Finished Bioshock Infinite this morning.  It is one of the best games that I have played recently, and that is saying something.  I have played quite a few great games so far this year, such as the witcher 2, MGS2, Dead Space 2.  I also seemed to have played quite a few sequels this year.

Bioshock Infinite vs. Doctor Who
11
Blog Entry
Published on April 16, 2013 2:28 PM - 3 minute read

I was truly torn.

I had gotten some best buy gift cards and I did not know what to do with them. I did know that I wanted to spend it on one of two things.
1. Classic Doctor Who.
2. Bioshock Infinite.
At the time I did not know which option was more appealing to me. Both are things that I love. Doctor who is my favourite television show, ever. There are plenty of other shows that I love, but they tie for second. Shows like chuck, star trek: tos, red dwarf, fringe, and all of joss whedon's collection are sadly second string to doctor who. I have been slowly amassing a collection of the classic series and am up to nearly two dozen serials. I have yet to be dissappointed. So, I am eager to continue to expand my collection. Best buy always seems to have some of the classic serials on sale and I have been eyeing the key to time arc and the dalek war arc. Both are about 50% off, which is great, because I do not really want to spend $100 on the key to time story arc. Back to the point, I love doctor who and was thinking of getting some more with birthday cash.

Bioshock Infinite is another beast entirely. I throroughly enjoyed playing Bioshock, and enjoyed bioshock 2 even more. I would like to give more time to mgs3 than I gave to mgs2 because I have rather fond memories of mgs3. So, I am not too eager to dive right into snake eater. While I am working my way through Halo4 again, I am doing it with the weakly challenges. So, one level a week assuming that the challenges work with me. So, that leaves me with a little void as to what to play next. I still have a few other things in my backlog, but they are not screaming my name. Bioshock Infinite is screaming my name.

So, I was torn. Two things that I really wanted. With little help in making the decision. Then I decided to stop in a best buy. I never expect them to have the greatest selection of doctor who, and I was right. They did not have what I was looking for, but they did have Bioshock Infinite. So, I went with that.

One other thing of note. I found out that I had a bunch of reward zone money from best buy. So, I bought the dalek war anyways.  At that point it became a tough decision between doctor who stories.

Witchblade.  One of my favorite comics. Has been for a long time. Sara Pezzini would be such a great character. And the Witchblade is almost an entity itself. It is a symbiotic relationship they have. Over the years they've done some crossovers with The Darkness. Two good games came from that franchise. So why not give Witchblade a game. Could be really incredible.
