First up, a flyby of my very modest tiny Xmas train set, then a neat VG relate gift I saw at Barnes & Noble, and then a little personal gaming news.
I read two new game related comics and set up my toy train set and Christmas village.
Merry Christmas! I’ve got some presents for you all! Game reviews I’ve recently written over at GamerDad.com! Just what you always wanted right? Anyway, please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. And also in the comments section, give me a pretend Christmas present, and I’ll reply with one for you, too! It’s fun when it’s fun. It can be anything you like, it’s the thought that counts…literally! OK let’s begin!
Big sale on Xbox the other day. I got several games. Played a few too. Here's all.
Around this time of year, I like to make a list of my best games SO FAR, because usually the AAA titles are released later in the year during the holiday season, and the titles that came out earlier tend to be forgotten. So here’s when those games get their due. Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed. And if a game isn’t on this list, it either just didn’t appeal to me as much or I haven’t had a chance to play it yet. Ok with that out of the way, let’s begin!
I have had this game since shortly after it came out, and I actually started it back then. But then something new and shiny came out, goodness knows what it was, and my Gamer ADD kicked in and I wandered off and never got back to it. Now that I think about it, I might have been angsty about the combat and perceived difficulty and just never made it past the part where Aloy is a little kid. Whatever. It got put down, ended up in a box, and covered with dust until I dug it out last night. Next thing I knew it was after midnight.
In honor of recent and upcoming holidays like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, in this episode of The Pizza Pixel Podcast, brother Jeff and I talk about our parents and stepparents favorite video games! We even have a special guest for part of the podcast, our mom! Please click on the link and check it out if you can!

I’d like to say this year’s been better than the last, but it really hasn’t. Even though it’s improved, we’re still having to deal with a lot of COVID crap. And then we found out my mom had breast cancer late last year and we had to deal with the surgeries this year. Luckily she’s cancer free now, which is a miraculous and wonderful thing, and I thank God everyday for that. But man it sure was rough for a couple of months there. You have no idea. Since I figured today was a holiday I would take a morning nap…3 hours after I got up. Odd, yes, but either way I took the nap. Here I am and I am ready to update you good people on things I’ve been playing.
Good morning Pixlpeeps! Random thoughts for a Thursday
Another year, another BaD. But times DO change. This year, before I start my blogs, I wanted to dedicate this iteration of our yearly blogging holiday to our noted member Cary and his mom, who has recently undergone treatment for cancer. We're all hoping Cary's mom has a swift recovery and that his family is blessed in this new year.
Good morning Pixlpeeps! Apparently yesterday was Monday and I thought it was Sunday. Oh National Holidays. Anyways here I am, here you are, let’s get started with games I’ve been playing.
WORST. YEAR. EVER. I think we can all agree that 2020 has been one of the worst years in our lifetime, what with the Coronavirus, quarantines, riots and looting, politics, and much more. And it doesn’t seem to be getting any better, as I just found out my mom has breast cancer (keep us in your prayers). Some days I wonder if we’ll EVER get through this. 2020 can just suck it! But at least we’ve had some good video games come out to help keep our minds off of this dumpster fire of a year. So here’s my Best Games of 2020 Awards Show! But keep in mind that this is my list and my picks only, no outside opinions and whatnot. And if a game isn’t on my list, it either just didn’t appeal to me or I haven’t played it yet. Can’t play ‘em all, you know! But with that out of the way, let’s take a look at my picks.
Hello everyone! I was hoping to get a holiday-themed game blog up here today, but I'm just too busy. It will have to wait. But I wanted to wish all of you who celebrate a Merry Christmas, and I hope you all have a lovely holiday!
Merry Christmas everybody! We’re going to continue my tradition of having a pretend Christmas present party on my blog. Here’s how it works. In the comments section, you give me a pretend Christmas present. It can be anything you want. It won’t cost anything, and it’s the thought that counts…literally! Then I’ll give you a pretend Christmas present when I reply. It’s fun when it it’s fun. And I’ve got some more Christmas presents for you all, too! More recent game reviews I’ve written over at GamerDad.com. Just what you’ve always wanted! Please click on the links and read as many as you can and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it.
This is the year I got into the Toys-To-Life games. I believe it was the vehicle designs for the Skylanders Superchargers that got me interested and then Gamestop's sales right after the holidays. This lead to Disney Infinity, then Lego Dimensions, Amiibo, and finally Skylink: Battle for Atlas. The genre is sort of in limbo right now, but I hope it returns. But I experienced more than just games. Here are five favorites from that year.
WORST. YEAR. EVER. I think we can all agree that 2020 has been one of the worst years in our lifetime, what with the Coronavirus, quarantines, riots and looting, and much more. Some days I wonder if we’ll EVER get through this. But there is one good thing about this year so far. We’ve had quite a lot of really good games come out the first half of this year! Normally I like to write a blog this time of year with my favorite games of the year so far, because the holiday titles and E3 announcements usually take precedence by the end of the year. Of course, because of the Coronavirus there was no E3 this year, and as of this writing we still don’t know what big games will be out for Christmas. Just another reason why this year sucks. So I don’t know how much different my list will be by the end of the year. But keep in mind that this is my list and my picks only, no outside opinions and whatnot. And if a game isn’t on my list, it either just didn’t appeal to me or I haven’t played it yet. Can’t play ‘em all, you know! But with that out of the way, let’s take a look at my picks.
I think we can all agree that 2020 is one of the worst years in recent history. It certain has been for me, and probably for most others, what with everything going on! I feel like I need a vacation on a desert island. And luckily, I kind of got that with Animal Crossing: New Horizons. I am so thankful that it came out when it did. It gave me a sense of normalcy and saneness during these times. You see, the Animal Crossing game series is very special to me because it’s a game I’ve loved playing with my friends and family over the years. And it’s not the first time an Animal Crossing game helped me cope with a rough patch in my life. So in this blog, I thought I’d go over the other times an Animal Crossing game helped me get through tough times, and I’ll briefly talk about the other games in the series as well.
