The first thing that comes to mind is changing my Xbox gamertag. I got one in 2004 when Xbox Live Arcade dropped but a mini-game on an Official Xbox Magazine demo disc was giving me trouble in '07, and I thought a new gamertag would solve it. Well, it did solve it, but I lost touch with my old gamertag over time, and now it's probably been deactivated along with the few games I bought under it. It'll be 20 years on my current gamertag next year. It could've been 23 years if I'd stuck with my original one.

The dreaded stealth gameplay got to me again in several new games I tried out this week. But I finished Doom Dark Ages, discovered some new Atari games, and got sucked into an old classic again.

Good morning Pixlpeeps! It’s been a minute but I’m back, and how about that we get an extra day in February. Well it’s been a different couple of weeks where it’s either been cold and rainy, really warm, and now windy in Vegas, but either way I like it. I do wish we had more snow this year but I think that’s over now. Anyways let’s go into what I’ve been playing and what I finished.
I only had half a day to game this week because of jury duty in the middle of the week. Still, I ripped through quite a few different titles. I kind of like playing games this way because it's like going the arcade back in the day. I play a little of this and a little of that. Fun.
Well good morning and long time no talk. Since the last time I posted here I’ve had some changes in life. The last time I wrote a blog here was a couple of years ago? No idea why I stopped but I did, anyways I am back so let’s do a little catching up
I started this month by making a puzzle I found at Goodwill, but then I needed to watch Philly Eagles highlights, and so I hooked up my Xbox, and now I'm trying to limit my playing to the earliest type of video games. I've started up Gamepass quests again, though, so the rules bent a bit. Here's what all:
Happy New Year! Around this time of year, I like to make a list of games that are releasing in the coming year that I’m looking forward to. Of course, this isn’t a full complete list, as there will assuredly be titles announced throughout the year that I may get as well. But anyway, here’s what I know now, for the most part, so let’s take a look at what games I’m looking forward to in 2024!
It’s the end of the year so you know what that means? It’s time for my “Best Video Games of 2023 Awards Show!” Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed. And if a game isn’t on this list, it either just didn’t appeal to me as much or I haven’t had a chance to play it yet. Ok with that out of the way, let’s begin!
I watched some Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and MSG SEED on youtube. I only found a few episodes dubbed into English, most are with subtitles, which I like to avoid. It's a neat show. I'm constantly reminded of US IPs like Halo and Pacific Rim while watching it. GUNDAM just basically means the neural interface with a robotic battle suit, like with Master Chief and Cortana or the piltos and Jaegers of Pacific Rim. Seems this show, just like the hair styles, like their robots all spikey. Fun stuff, and complex. The stories in MSGW are deep in polical intrigue, Earth vs. Rebels, not unlike the colonial uprisings in the Halo universe. I enjoyed it in between lots of gaming that happened during Labor Day weekend as outlined below.
Around this time of year, I like to make a list of my best games SO FAR, because usually the AAA titles are released later in the year during the holiday season, and the titles that came out earlier tend to be forgotten. I couldn’t think of a creative title for this GamerDad.com review dump blog, so I’m quoting Bluey. Bluey is an awesome kids show that is so good that I sometimes forget it’s a kids show. Last year there was a game that came out that I really wanted to review called Arcade Paradise. I requested a review code three different times and was denied each time! I really wanted to review it, too, because it’s a time management sim where you must run a laundromat business, but you are secretly running an arcade in the back with dozens of fictional arcade games you can actually play! I actually had an idea for a business that was half laundromat, half arcade, and I was going to called it Quarters: Good Clean Fun. So this game really resonated with me. If I had gotten a chance to review it last year, it definitely would’ve showed up on my Game of the Year list somewhere. But this year I used some Christmas present PlayStation Store points to buy it, and sure it was only 20 bucks so I was kind of cheap, but this stuff adds up if you’re not careful. Anyway, so now that I’ve played the game, I thought I’d write a blog about the arcade cabinets you can play on it. Oh yeah, and slight spoiler alerts here and there, but I don’t think it matters much.

It’s Monday Night here so I’m still on track with my goals for 2022. Good evening Pixlpeeps! So more running around this past week along with today…seriously have you ever had a day where everything just isn’t clicking? That was today for me. Trying to get paperwork printed when printers didn’t work, when the printer did work, it didn’t read the usb stick, pick up other paperwork in a busy location, people not knowing how to drive in a parking lot and then the cherry on top was Panera getting my lunch wrong. It was that kind of day. I did however play some games when I did have time.
