So in revisiting this 2000-2009 this month, I thought I'd go down page one of the list of Metacritic's best of for GBA in this time range and make some comments for the games I have something to say about.

Diablo IV threatens to take over every minute of my gaming, but I managed to squeeze in some retro and get my GP rewards points done.

I can't resist starting a list of media to check out for April focusing on the years 1990-1994. This is roughly console Generation 4. My only rule for gaming is to stick to the consoles that came out those years regardless when the games actually were released. That means Game Boy, SNES, and Genesis. I'm largely ignoring Turbografx-16 and Neo Geo for the moment because I don't have those systems. I also made a short list of PC, board/card and arcade games I might have time to play. Here goes.

2021 Year in Review

It's been quite a year! I played a ton of games this year, and there were plenty of games that I wanted to play that I didn't get to (too many games!). Some of those games will roll over into next year. For 2021, I beat a total of 25 games! Instead of talking about all of those, I'll just highlight the ones I really enjoyed this year and after that, I'll tell you my personal Game of the Year. So here are the games I beat this year that I really loved.

Mergeajuana.

Well hello there! This is the final standard format episode of Nerds Without Pants of 2021, so we decided to bring Mike Fallek on and recorded an episode so long that you won’t finish it until 2022. Yep, totally meant to do that. Wasn’t an off-the-rails affair from minute one. Nope.

I hurt.

This episode is late and I’m in so much pain writing this that I can’t think straight. You know the drill: we talked about stuff. For a long time. About video games.

2020 Year in Review

Hey, guys! 2020 has been a miserable year for the world, so thank God it's over! But it was a really good year for games. This year I was able to beat 25 games, which is almost the most I've ever done in a year. Most of you know that I'm a huge Nintendo fan, so most of these are Nintendo games or games on Nintendo consoles (although I would like to get a PS4, but not sure if that'll happen). As always, I beat some really great retro games this year too. So without further ado, here are the games I beat in 2020.

As much as Nintendo struggled with third party support on the N64, especially in Japan, they did have a fair amount of support from one major publisher, Konami. Konami developed and published some of the best output on the system that wasn't made by Nintendo's in-house developers, though they were not without their stinkers.

Nintendo's portable systems, a review. Pt. 2 - The Game Boy Advance

This was The portable system to have back in the day. I had so many good memories with this thing. The graphics were so good, it was like having a small portable SNES in your hand. I had one of these things with me on my deployment to Iraq for the army, and it provided me with a lot of enjoyment over the years. I literally owned every iteration of this thing, and don't regret it one bit. When it was discontinued, I was kind of sad, because I felt like it still had some life left in it.

So it's been 90s week on my Switch this week. I got Turok a little over a week ago, and then I've also been playing a certain little known PS1 RPG that somehow just found its way onto a Nintendo console over 20 years later. And that got me thinking about the N64.
