It’s time for my “Best Video Games of 2025 Awards Show!” Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed. And if a game isn’t on this list, it either just didn’t appeal to me as much or I haven’t had a chance to play it yet. Ok with that out of the way, let’s begin!
When the Nintendo Switch 2 released earlier this year, one of the launch games was the download only Welcome Tour. It was set up like a museum, and you controlled a little person as they walked around a giant Switch 2 and its accessories. You could play mini-games, try tech demos, and take quizzes on facts about the new console. To me, it sounded like a lot of silly, quirky fun. And I love games that have museums in them, whether it be Namco Museums or Animal Crossing. There was only one problem. They charged you for it. It really should’ve come with the system, and that’s what it’s going to be known for from here on out. I really wanted to boycott it and not buy it to support that kind of behavior. But here’s the thing. I only believe in boycotting if it doesn’t hurt yourself. And the game still sounded interesting enough to me that I didn’t want to miss out on it. Life is too short to miss out on what you think is fun. So I got it. It was only ten bucks anyway, and I can spend more money than that on fast food! So I figured I’d take you all on a tour of the Welcome Tour!
Around this time of year, I like to make a list of my best games SO FAR, because usually the AAA titles are released later in the year during the holiday season, and the titles that came out earlier tend to be forgotten. I’m really excited about the upcoming release of New Pokémon Snap. The original was a special game to me, and I’ll explain why in this blog. The mainline Pokémon games are great, but I haven’t played any of the more recent ones because I feel they are all pretty much the same game. Now, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Why fix what isn’t broken? And with every new generation of Pokémon game comes a new generation of kids to enjoy them, and while they may be the same game to me, it’s new to them. While I haven’t played a new mainline Pokémon game since Black & White, I still like the Pokémon settings and characters and do enjoy a lot of the spin-off games. So in this blog we’re going to take a look at some of my favorite Pokémon spin-off games in honor of the upcoming release of New Pokémon Snap!

Well it's the last day and the last batch of games I'll be able to show off. I wasn't able to get to my other tote of wii games which has another 100 games, so maybe next year I can go through that. Still I managed to go through 250 games in my collection and that is quite a bit. Anyways, enjoy my last batch of games and a few big box/special edition games.
Well it's valentine's day everyone and as a special gift I got a box o' games! HO HO! You thought it was a box o' chocolates! Bad jokes aside... here is today's batch!
After spending time wearing the cowl of Batman in four games since 2009, I wasn’t all that interested in Batman: Arkham VR. It had “tech demo” written all over it, and seemed like an easy cash grab for the crucial first slate of PlayStation VR. Now that I’ve played through it I can easily say that it is far beyond what I expected, and while I had thought I had already worn Batman’s cowl it was another thing entirely to put it on myself.
In my nearly five years writing for PixlBit I think I can safely say that I have installed myself as the resident Final Fantasy superfan. I have written about the long-running role playing game series more than any other topic over the years, and have always met each main title entry with excitement. So why do I feel so much apprehension towards the impending release of Final Fantasy XV? Shouldn’t I be breathlessly counting the days, instead of dreading it? Well, that’s a complex question to answer, but I want to believe in FF XV. I’m just not sure if I can.
So, there have been a few announcements that have made E3 kind of epic....okay very epic. First while I don't have a Xboxone or PS4 I will say this... They both did something that the others could only salivate at. First the XboxOne will be backwards compatible with 360 games at no extra cost. This is great for 360 fans who were still holding onto that 360 of theirs and it's nice they'll have another reason to adopt to the next gen. PS4 is still the only one that does not do this. The PS4 meanwhile is getting great new exclusives like oh IDK... that FFVII remake everyone has been clamoring for since the PS3 tech demo. or how about The Last Guardian is finally coming. or even yes...a game no one expected and I will be supporting... SHENMUE 3!!! Let's kickstart this immediately!!! So PS4 brought the great exclusives.
So, apparently December 3 2014 marks the 20th birthday of the PlayStation. It launched on this date way back in 1994 in Japan (we wouldn't get it in the US until September 9 1995).
A lot of bad games exist in this good world. Without a little guidance from a review or friend’s recommendation it can be easy to stumble upon a pile of turds before finding a golden prize. Sometimes a game doesn’t click with reviewers and most of my friends give me fair warning, yet I’m still pulled towards the title and end up finding something very special. Sometimes you just need to find your own games to love and not worry what others think.
In the early ‘90s, a new video game console was only as strong as its launch titles. When we look back at a console’s history and wonder what attracted us to it, often it’s those first games that we think of and say, "that’s why I fell in love with that system." Nintendo understood this concept when they released the Super Nintendo. Included among a shortlist of launch games was the flight simulation, Pilotwings. Beginning as an early tech demo in 1988 to show off the Mode 7 graphical capabilities of the 16-bit system, Pilotwings was developed into a full-fledged game that allowed us to take to the skies in a way never before possible on a home console.
So over on NeoGAF and various other forums I visit, there was a huge row over a revelation in Eurogamer that the PS4 will only grant about 5.5GB of RAM out of the 8GB in the device, with a big portion of it walled off for the OS. You even had people talking about cancelling their pre-orders over this. Never mind that A) all those great demos we saw at E3 and other places were built around the assumption of just 4GB, or that B) it's likely that the OS will be pared down over time the same way the PS3's was.
Ok I would like to say why all the hate for either system? Even thou Xbox at the moment is getting most of it. I understand where people are coming from..Microsoft is screwing up..But if you actually think about it every big video game company does this??
One of my more random gaming related hobbies is looking up articles and scans from old magazines—EGM, Gamepro, and so forth. I was an avid buyer of various mags when I was little; I’d go to the convenience store 5 minutes away from my house almost every weekend and pick something up with my $5 allowance (which was baller money back in elementary school). It’s fun going back to them from time to time and seeing what was what from an adult perspective.
