Pac-Man World: Re-Pac was recently released, and it’s a remake of Pac-Man World, a 3-D platformer originally on the PSOne to celebrate Pac-Man’s 20th anniversary. Pac-Man World may not be one of my favorite Pac-Man games, but I have a lot of special memories about it that I thought I’d share with you in this blog. Plus my opinion on the remake, what has changed and stayed the same, etc. So grab a bowl of Pac-Dots and let’s get chomping!
Mark and I knocked another board game off the list by playing Backgammon. Then I played my new Genesis games and finally got back to my XSX games.
I got started on Farm Together on Sunday thinking I was just going to do some maintenace and move on to the Borderlands 3 DLC, but I never finished tweaking my farm. Here are some things I did as I passed farm level 70.
Oh baby, yeah, library additions. How much more navel gazing can I do? Well, a lot apparently, and you all have to put up with it, or not. Believe me, I will go if asked.
I got so long-winded last time when talking about the games in my last blog on the mini PlayStation Classic that I decided to split it into two blogs. Good morning Pixlpeeps! I haven’t been on this site this past week because I’ve been battling a cold and had a family emergency. All is well on both fronts, although I still have a stuffy nose, an occasional cough and my ears are still plugged, otherwise I am good. Being lazy on Saturday morning while typing up my Quick Hits blog might be my new Friday entry. I like having a random podcast on, while propping the laptop on my legs. So how are you Pixlpeeps? Excited for the 3 Day weekend? I was planning on being lazy today but now I kind of want to go to the bank and deposit my check and maybe visit the Best Buy. Who knows, I might change my mind before this blog is done. Let’s get started!
Chris Yarger, who I talk to every day on text, finished Zelda. He got a Switch about two months ago, and is kind of a Nintendo hater... it was a present for his sons. But I told him Zelda was good. He eventually changed his mind. But the other night he told me he was facing the final boss, and a little while after that he told me it was done. I'm way behind in Zelda, but I hope to get back to it eventually.
Dissidia Final Fantasy was one of my favorite games on the PSP. It was a fighting game featuring characters from the popular RPG series, and there were two of them on Sony’s first handheld. I always thought it would be neat if there was a version of Dissidia on one of the big consoles, so I was excited when Square-Enix announced Dissidia Final Fantasy NT for the PS4. I’ve been playing it recently, so here’s a blog about the characters and stages you can find in it, as well as some brief impressions of the game as a whole.
In which, after a recent Dead Kennedys concert and talking to Klaus Flouride about his bass sound on Viva Las Vegas, Klaus asks me about the arcade cabinet he saw me playing before the show.
So I'm trying to multitask right now, and maybe rip a couple of CDs to my Travel Laptop's external hard drive and one freaking song slowed everything to a crawl. The CD is in pristine shape, and every track before it ripped at the DVD drive's max speed and now this song. Blah! This really isn't gaming but hey it's something I'm doing while I'm typing this latest entry and hopefully the damn song will be finished and I can't get back to regular speeds.
All of those things were involved in the BFD concert I went to Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Starplex Pavillion in Dallas, TX, put on by Live Nation and 97.1 The Eagle.
So this is my current situation, I'm trying to get back into my normal groove. I'm a little (a lot) behind here reading and commenting, I haven't been listening to my 50 songs a day, the podcast list is backed up to about a week, and I'm spending the time that I would normally dedicate to those activities to randomly searching YouTube for various videos. April is quickly becoming my lazy month. Other than that everything is a-ok here in breezy Southern California. The Coachella kids are gone...until the end of the week but there is a movie being filmed at the Polo Grounds (where Coachella takes place) and I've been debating if I should go be an extra. The only requirement is that I have to dress like I'm going to a country music concert, and I think I have to donate $10 to Lady Gaga's charity. The bonus is they are going to raffle off various prizes throughout the filming so it might be fun. We shall see if I can find the free time to check it out.
One of the launch titles for the Nintendo Switch was 1-2-Switch. It’s a party mini-game collection showing off the capabilities of the new console. At first I wasn’t sure if I would get it, but after playing it at PAX South, I decided I would get it after all. And since I like to write about mini-game collections, here is a blog about all the ones found in 1-2-Switch.
Part II is the peak and decline of arcades, years 1982-1985. I was in high school those years. Weekends I'd get on my bike, and with a friend, head down to the mall to play arcade games. 1982 was the absolute peak with just a ton of new games. After that the decline began as home consoles began offering more elaborate experiences to challenge the two and half minutes per quarter the arcade machines were giving. Here are my favorites.
The last couple of days have kept me busy with snow, shoveling snow, working in a blizzard, driving to a concert 20 miles away in a small snow event (I don't consider it bad enough to call a storm, but there were interesting driving conditions and an iced-up windshield to contend with), shoveling more snow, running a snowshoe race this morning, and settling in for a blizzard that started around 3:00 this afternoon and won't wind down until some time tomorrow afternoon. So more shoveling in my near future.
