Well, not really, just not sure how I want to grade some of these short answer questions. Going back and forth on a system allowing for half points or one where they either got it right or wrong altogether. I'm not taking points off for minor spelling errors, just correcting their mistakes.
Well that month sure went fast! Between work and vacation, poof! Gone!
Over this past summer, and even some after that, there were a lot of news stories about police officers not doing what they should be doing, and it caused a lot of heat. Sometimes even in the form of riots. While I’m sure that there are police officers who are corrupt and some who lie and make mistakes, I think the majority of officers are trying their best to do the right thing, and need our support. But that’s just my personal opinion. So to show my support, here’s a blog about my favorite police officers in video games, and I’ll also share some ways I helped support our local police force in real life.
This year is flying by, next weekend is the 4th of July weekend and it will be insane at work if the weather is good. I'm a little frustrated that the park is looking shabby, but due to a serious infestation of browntail moth caterpillars and their toxic hairs, we haven't been able to mow or weedwhack much at all in the past six weeks. I'm one of the lucky people that all I have to do is get out of my car on a dry windy day and I walk into park HQ with a rash. So no mowing, weedwhacking, or sweeping at all, and I have to be careful when repairing picnic tables, painting the buildings, etc. But there is supposed to be some rain in the next couple of days, so hopefully if we bust our butts, we can have the place looking decent by Friday evening.
A new Kirby game was released on 3DS recently, called Kirby: Planet Robobot. In this game, Kirby can pilot a robot mech to smash enemies and solve puzzles. So that got me to thinking about other mech games that I like, so here’s a blog about them!
Good morning Pixlpeeps! So the past couple of days here in sunny Southern California it has been toasty, with the temperature hitting low 90s, and last night it dropped because we are getting a lot of wind and the local news folks said today it will be in the 70s with a really good chance of rain. Oh you crazy weather. So how are you good folks? Anything big going on? Are you all caught up in the Overwatch Beta that folks on Facebook have been talking about? I downloaded it yesterday after having to download the Battle net application. Why do I need so many apps just to run games? Coming in as a console gamer I figured everything ran through Steam but it is just like consoles in the PCMR where there is Steam, GOG, Origin, and Battle net. There is probably others that I haven’t run into yet.
Pixlpeeps what is up? I am back again, its Friday and I am ready to do nothing but watch television and maybe play some games. How has the week been treating you? It’s been basketball week here with The Aztecs taking their frustrations out on Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. I was hoping for a cool headline like Aztecs send Mastodons back to the Ice Age, but no such luck. Anyways it is also the NCAA Tournament and guess who I picked to win it all?
Saturday night my wife and I had the opportunity to see Video Games Live, Tommy Tallarico's incredible orchestral game concert series. (Tommy is probably best known for the soundtrack to Earthworm Jim, though he holds the Guinness Book of World Records record for working on more video games than any other person. Over 300!) This was our second time going (our first was about two and a half years ago) and it was just as good this time around. They revisited a few of the same games as the last we saw them but it was mostly new stuff. They had a Phoenix Wright medley! I might have squeaked with delight just a little bit when they started that one. Another favorite of mine was the Mega Man medley. Hearing that Wily 2 music from a live orchestra was moving. There were some expected franchises represented like Mario, Zelda, Sonic, Castlevania, and Final Fantasy, which were all really great (Castlevania was a total rock fest with Tommy himself playing the electric guitar). Last time they played the music to the opening cinematic of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm as the visuals played on the big screen; this time they played Warlords of Draenor. Blizzard sure knows how to do those things! They also played League of Legends, Skyrim, and Resident Evil 5. Even though I've played the game, I was surprised by how much I liked the music from Uncharted 2. Metal Gear Solid, Shadow of the Colosus, Mass Effect, Halo, Street Fighter II, Kingdom Hearts (I can never hear "Hikari" too many times)—so much good stuff!

Good Morning Pixlpeeps! I was going to type this up yesterday but Pixlbit was having problems (Thanks Pixlbit Magicians for fixing the problem). I started to write my blog around lunch, got lazy and forgot. I figured I might as well combine my usual what I was playing and a special first half of the week Quick Hits because I might or might not do a Quick Hits on Black Friday. If I do have one on Friday it’ll probably be me wandering around Target and Walmart taking pictures of people’s carts (I’m going to avoid the first hour of crazy where people are fighting over cheap bad electronics). Let’s get started!
I started a blog entry a couple of weeks ago and didn't get far, I copied it and I'll paste it in, just so I don't have to try to dredge up what was going on out of the cobwebbed recesses of my brain:
Who cares what was popular or what historic events happened in music in 1998. This is what I listened to. It ain't much or even all that interesting, but I really didn't have any strong feelings about the music in '98. About the most interesting thing to me looking back is this was the year Queens of the Stone Age debuted. I liked them then, but didn't follow them. Now I'd like to take a closer listen. Anyway, this is the stuff I listened to and remember well.
Don't think I read much in 1996 unless you count sheet music. Read a bunch of that stuff for bass. I did notice that George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones came out that year. I guess I gotta check it out since it's such a huge monster these days.
At one time in my life, my gaming collection took up a rather large portion of my bedroom wall. I had the mediocrities, the "products of their time (i.e. Combat, Battle Arena Toshinden, Zero Tolerance, etc.), the unplayable horrors of the digital age (2600 Pac Man, snes Pit Fighter, Cosmic Carnage, Deadly Towers), the misunderstood masterpieces, and the certified classics. I was unhappy with my life, and that shelf filled me with minutes of the artificial sweetener that I thought that I needed.

Today was the library book sale. I rarely find games there but I always find music. Today the nets brought in a nice assortment of CDs. There are also four bare naked ladies in there. See if you can find them in the pic below:

Pixlbit Nation how are ya? I am exhausted and I am excited that today is the start of my weekend. I’ve been having some odd sleeping patterns where I would wake up at 5am. One morning I woke up, thought it was 6ish when I usually get up and it was 3am. THREE AM! It’s a tad bit insane but hopefully it ends so I can get back to a normal sleeping pattern.* So what are your plans for the weekend? Anything fun? I am going to hit the weekend Swapmeet because Swapmeet Lady said she would have some new products. Let’s get started with this week’s Quick Hits.
Had 5K mud run this morning. Finished it in about 50 minutes to an hour, which is roughly double my usual 5K time. I knew there would be mud, but somehow underestimated how much it would slow me down and also did not realize there would be Ultimate Ninja Warrior shit like rock climbing walls, climbing ropes, hopping over things, sliding down barrels, jumping from angled square to angled square (hit first 3/4, then barely missed bottom of #4), crawling under ropes through mud, etc. etc. A couple guys I know who are ex-military said they don't like doing stuff like this because it reminds them too much of the military. My friend Ryan is ex-Army and said crap like this is the part he actually enjoyed though, so I dunno. All I know is that mud smells like actual shit and my brand new shoes seem ruined. Fantastic. At least they had free beer at the end, which seems ... ironic.
This week I'm focusing on progressive, avant-garde, and jazz-fusion albums released in 1970. I first looked at what I had on my hard drive and then what I had but were vinyl album rips needing to be broken into tracks. Then I took the remaining list and did a library search, and today, I went to pick them all up. See the results below.
