Just a quick blog after doing some trades before I head back to my friend's game room. Here's some stuff I got recently.
I kinda can't wait to do this sort of overview for DS games when I get there in a few weeks.
Thanks to the recently released Mario Galaxy movie, I’ve got a bunch of themed articles about it along with my usual GamerDad game reviews. So please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK, let’s blast off!
Recently my wife and I got to go on a dinner date sans kids and afterwards we went to Draftcade, a local bar/arcade. It was a spur of the moment decision because we didn't realize it was so close to the restaurant we went to but I'm glad we went in! $10 each got us in and all the games were set to free play. It wasn't as big as I had expected but the game selection was excellent. Sure, I've played Donkey Kong as an arcade game before but they had both the sequels as well as Popeye! I got to play some well known old games that I had never actually played before, like Tapper, Dig Dug, Burger Time. They had a vector-based Astroids Deluxe. They had the orignal Mario Bros. and a bunch of pinball tables (I remain bad at pinball) and a decent smattering of fighting and beat-'em-up games.
Happy Easter! I’ve got some video game Easter egg reviews for you all to hunt. When you find one, please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK, let’s begin!
I've chosen ten games from the Metacritic best of list to start my OG Xbox journey. Here they are.
I got through the last of my PS2 games, or so I thought. Here's what I got to this week.
St. Patrick’s Day is coming up, and I’ve got a pot of gold for all of you filled with game reviews I’ve recently written at GamerDad.com! Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it! OK let’s begin!
The next 25 games on Metacritic for the GBA. I'll have my favorites, but I'll look up everything and see what's available to me to try out.
After a brief time with Monster Hunter Stories, I really managed to focus this week on my PS2 stuff and get through a lot. Then I traded a bunch of them, but also picked up some new ones.
It's always fun to go down the list of Metacritic's top games for a system or year. Here goes for the GBA, which I'm trying to play alongside my PS2 games. It's all about the early 2000s.
Alongside my PS2 gaming is also me trying to play the handheld out at the time, GBA. I've had trouble getting to it, but this week I got super sidetracked on GBA games. I also touched on PS4 and XSS and bought a bunch of stuff both digitally and at my game stores.
In Stephen King's memoir In Writing, a good piece of advice (regarding reading habits) that King made was to read in small sips as opposed to big gulps. Which is more accessible depends on the person, their schedule, and how much time they have during a given day.
This is the blog from last week I couldn't get posted until now. I was snowed in on that Sunday the 31st [edit: 25th], but I made it to MK's place Mon-Thurs to play a ton of stuff as work was cancelled those days. Here's the lot.
Happy New Year! Let’s start it off right with game reviews I’ve recently written over at GamerDad.com! Please click on the links and read as many as you can, and maybe please post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it! OK let’s begin!
I got scores/progress on all my owned NES games and began my Genesis stuff. I also played the remaining games on my Xbox Series hard drive and stowed the deck to bring out the Switch next week. Some purchases made also and a return to Star Fleet (known as X-Bomber in Japan).
It’s time for my “Best Video Games of 2025 Awards Show!” Keep in mind that this is my list only and no other outside opinions contributed. And if a game isn’t on this list, it either just didn’t appeal to me as much or I haven’t had a chance to play it yet. Ok with that out of the way, let’s begin!
Let’s end the year with one last glob of game reviews I’ve recently written at GamerDad.com! Please click on the links and read as many as you can and maybe even post a ‘like’ or comment or two. I’d appreciate it. OK let’s begin!

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen an entry in the Metroid Prime series - 18 years, in fact. It was 8 years ago that Metroid Prime 4 was originally announced and its development was more than a little turbulent. Initially developed by Bandai Namco, it was later scrapped completely and development was shifted back to Retro Studios to start the project over. In the end, Retro has delivered a solid new entry in the series, but one that doesn’t totally capture what originally made the series so compelling.
Merry Christmas! I’ve got some presents for you! Game reviews I’ve recently written over at GamerDad.com! Just what you wanted, right? In the comments section, give me a pretend Christmas present and I’ll give you one, too, when I reply. It can be anything you want, it’s the thought that counts…literally! OK let’s begin!

I downloaded every 2000s era game I owned digitally on Xbox and started going through them. I added a bunch to my wish list as well in case a sale comes up.
