I played a lot of games on my 2013-2015 list this Labor Day. I also picked up some games from Just Press Play this week.

I love that feeling when a new game totally takes over game time. This happened this week with DPS Idle, a free-2-play autobattler. Who knew? It swept the field of everything else mentioned below.

Not the losers of the World Series but the ones drawn by Osamu Tezuka and animated in a tv series - you know, the really important stuff. Not having the 1963 series, I watched some episodes of the 2003 Astro Boy. It's pretty good. Great animation. Sometimes a very kids oriented story in some episodes but still enjoyable to aged me. Mad Krammer just bought the '63 series, so I'll get to that soon. Anyway, gaming.

This site is starting to misfunction [not really, just me hitting wrong keys]. I just lost my blog for an unknown reason. That's about it for me. Can't take the lost time. So here's a list of what I just played. Don't think I'll continue. I started a Reddit account and will be commenting there as aiwithwarpdrive. (can't copy most images either. It's a waste of time to screen shot them and bounce them to my Onedrive just to share).

A whole lot, but not really because some I just looked at or played a short time. Still, a good long list. Here we go.

I had to hit a couple more Gamestop's on the way to work today to take advantage of the sale on last gen games. Pickings got meager and a few were too pricey for what I think these games are worth. Here's what I got today:

More on Fire Emblem Heroes (iOS)

Now that I've had some time to play some of FE: Heroes, actually-- I think the game is pretty good. It's similar in presentation and execution to earlier games in the series, the classic 2D games. I didn't partiularly care about the artwork from previews but now that I've seen it in action, I don't have a problem with it anymore. The character portraits are quite nice and detailed. The combat animations have backgrounds scenery that match the environments of the map and the music is fantastic. So far I've only completed 2 chapters and unlocked Hard and Lunatic difficulty modes as well as acquiring extra party members who arent that bad in stats, but I did have repeats. So far, the maps are bite sized, which is good because it makes the battles nice and short and I mainly have a party of 4 versus similar number of enemies max, which again, makes it easier to manage. It's perfect for short breaks of play time, and not long drawn out battles like XCOM or 3DS fire emblem. I've seen people complain about Pay-toWin cheapness, but so far I haven't felt the need to pay for anything. Its fine for a little distraction here and there and it's free. Can't really defend pay-to-win either way.

I beat the main Quest line, I havent beaten the whole game but I did go ahead and fight the final story mission that isnt DLC. It was...quiet easy, even on Normal mode. There was only one point where I was like"OH SHIT WE MIGHT DIE!" which was the second half of the mission. Overall, the ending was not very strong which of course was probably done like that on purpose because they probably knew that the final DLC was gonna be the last part of the story for the game. Now Im not going to go jump in and finish the story DLC. Im gonna go to previous save before I beat the final mission and level my character up and continue more side stuff. I need to be level 20 for the final section stuff and im 3 levels behind. Its kind of boring not being able to interact with people, especially Cullen since he was my chosen romance for my human rogue on this playthrough. The only thing they do is say a few lines of dialogue now. So advice to any one who hasnt gotten this far or played DAI yet, dont even consider doing the final quest for the main story unless you intend to jump right into the DLC story stuff. Its boring, you cant recieve kisses anymore from your lover and dialogue is limited to like 1 to 2 sentences with companions. Other than that, I have enjoyed the game. It has kept me quiet busy these last couple of days. Its a lot of fun and I do plan to do a few more playthroughs.

It seems that horror has a wonderful future with VR.

Not Another Walking Sim?

A lot of negativity and skepticism over the direction of ResidentEvil 7 is not unexpected. I don't particularly enjoy walking sims myself, not much action for my taste, so I'm actually pretty lukewarm on the idea. However, sometimes coming in at the height or tail end of a genre or trend, aka Horror Themed Walking Sims, can make for better games.

I got Dragon Age Inquisition for like $8 on PSN. I enjoy the series and need to finish it, but the open world direction just put me off. I would have preferred a more directed experience like DA2 or at least something similar to DA1, but maybe this game has something in it that will make me like open worlds, or keep on hating them, I don't know? I'm not that excited to see Zelda go Skyrim, or HD versions of Skyrim for that matter. I need an entry point I suppose. Xenoblade chronicles was great, as well as FF12, but those games weren't empty and always gave you somthing to do, like in an MMO. I might be confusing Open Worlds with Sandboxes, as these two words are used interchangeably.

I'll see ya'll after 100 hours of Inquisition, or 10 if I get bored...

Wait...this thing is real??

It’s good to be able to admit when you’re wrong. I had zero expectations for Final Fantasy XV (I prefer to call it “The Artist Formerly Known as Final Fantasy Versus XIII”) to be anything I would be interested in. Heck, I didn’t even believe it was a game that had ever existed in playable form. I would chalk that up to the seven year development cycle and the fact that even by last year I had never heard of anyone ever seeing a live gameplay demo. Well, here I stand, saying that I was wrong. Final Fantasy XV is not vaporware, and it’s not half bad, either!

I miss you guys!

Hey all, it's been quite a while since I've had something posted up on here - aside from the feature in the "Why we game" article that went up a little while back. Things have been so much more hectic than I anticipated. Having a full time job is definitely that - full time. Its been a challenge getting to anything personal, especially games which hurts because thats my prime hobby, as we know.

My son's tv is on the fritz, so I'm going to be letting him play the ps4 for a while.  We're gonna save a couple hundred and go get him a 32 inch tv, same size he currently has, though it may or may not be as good as the LG he currently has.  We've been having issues with this tv for the past few months.  It's a 2009 model, and the screen tends to shut off at times.  It's been happening more frequently, so much that he can't even get through a whole episode of Ninjago.  He's got his 2DS, but he lost interest in it in the wake of him getting the ps3.  He's been a good sport about it the past couple of days, so I figured I'd let him get in some time with his ol' Pops' console.

It’s a new year, and the nerds without pants are back with an epic, 3 hour extravaganza! Wait, come back, because you’re gonna want to listen to all of this. Not only do we have a great discussion about Christmas loot, Dragon Age, Game of Thrones, and Destiny, but we also have a very special interview with David Evans and Jamie Roboz, who worked on NWP indie favorite Rollers of the Realm.  I haven't even started the game yet and I must ask if the developers were dropped on their heads as children. Seriously, the character customisation is fucking stupid. So you want me to pick my gender and race and then wait 5 minute for the game to load and then I can customise my character? So if I want to change my gender or race to see what they look like, I have to go back to the main menu, and then wait five minutes for the game to load, then sit through a minute long stupid cutscene? Oh, and I have to wait for the Dragon Age Keep to import my decisions everytime because it can't just fucking keep them?
