Not so many games really. Actually, my favorite thing this year wasn't games but audio recording. My best friend and I would get together in breaks from our different colleges and go on road trips. Our favorite thing was to record ourselves doing skits or other nonsense on cassette tapes while listening to our favorite music. I still have them, some 30 or so. I converted them to CDs in the early 2000s and stored them as files on a now defunct hard drive. However, MK and I would go to arcades still here and there. I watched a lot of movies as well.
I played Switch, X360 and XSX systems. I'd like to make that Switch, PS4, XSX sometime. I always wanted to get to all three major systems during play sessions.
Only a hundred years until the events of Rush's 2112 album. I can't wait.
Didn't have a lot of time today, but I managed to finish Halo 3: ODST. It took me about 6 hours over two days, the same as Halo C.E.. It was weird playing ODST this time because I knew the story well from the novel Halo: New Blood, which was about the same team leader Edward Buck and his squad Alpha-Nine. I really enjoyed Halo 3: ODST. It's like a dark film noir crime investigation. You switch control of different members of Alpha-Nine as you try and find your teammates who all crashed into the city of New Mombasa in their drop pods instead of landing on the covenant cruiser that jumped to slipspace at the last minute. New things I noticed were: molotov cocktail type grenades that set everything on fire; a flame thrower you find in one area late in the game; and lots more Huragoks (Engineers) and the explanation of how they are not an enemy to humanity. The look of those things is quite fleshy and repulsive. They seemed a little bit more elegant and techy in the novels, but in both cases they are tentacled floating brains.
No, really. Page 183 of Media/Impact: An Introduction to Mass Media (12th Ed.) by Shirley Biagi actually mentions the Israel-Palestine game Snee was talking about in one of his blogs (PeaceMaker).
Every year, around the holidays, I go looking to see what new Halo books have been published. In 2016 I got a few and just finished the first one, Halo: New Blood by Matt Forbeck.
Well here it is as promised. So as I mentioned I decided I was going to go ahead and review bargain bin games that I've bought on the cheap. These games may range from "Huh!? What's that!?" to "Oh I heard about that, but I never bought it!" As such I wanted to bring you all into the world of Bargain Bin Buys. This is where I take a look at some notable or not so notable titles and say whether or not you should look into giving it a chance or steer away from such cheap, tempting fruits. Since Nintendo is in my name, and Nintendo consoles are where I game...I'll be focusing on bargain bin Wii titles.Today I am going to review a title never released in the U.S.A., but gamers may know of. This weeks Wii Review... Another Code: R- A Journey Into Lost Memories. A game I bought for $15

Once upon a time, Halo used to mean something. Halo was the game which revolutionized the first person shooter genre on consoles, offered mechanics that developers still copy to this day, and was the unparalleled king of multiplayer games outside of PC. There were first person shooters and then there was Halo.

With all this commotion about game length and references to juicy steaks and fat meals, I just appreciate the film experience a lot more sometimes. Films are often just about the same length and the quality varies from the skilled hands that made them and they all cost the same to watch or rent. With films, we either love them or hate, but even bad films with at least one good peformance or action sequence we can learn to love.
I think the Order 1886 looks phenominal and it actually worked to get me excited for 'next gen' games after watching some of the game play. I mean, can you imagine playing a Batman or Dark Souls game that looks like the Order! What about a gorgeous Metal Gear, Uncharted, or any RPG that we haven't seen realized yet? Yup. I'm excited for the possibilities.
But this is about Films I recently watched that were just the right length and pretty entertaining.
1. Grand Budapest Hotel
I love me some Wes Anderson. This film takes place in a hotel and stars Ralph Fieness as a concierge of a fancy hotel full of rich patrons. Without giving too much of the plot away, there is a murder mystery that implicates everyone and it has a very funny charm about the whole atmosphere and characters. Ralph has an assistant named Zero who is more the silent type and his protege who is training to be a lobby boy, while also serving as an accomplice. The movie is super stylish, as most of Wes Anderson films are, in it's 2D style and weird ass characters are all very quirky and interesting. Reminds me of Twin Peaks in a lot of ways. All around, a great film and great performance by Fiennes.
2. Birdman
I didn't love this film that much. If you haven't seen it, it's basically like what if Michael Keaton was on a reality show documenting his real life as he tried to make a comeback as an actor on Broadway after Batman. The film is full of pop-culture references and is poking fun at the super hero film genre that's taken over Hollywood as well as critique our obsession with social media and going viral. It's very pretentious and it's all filmed with a steady cam style like all in one seemless shot for the whole movie. Keaton is very good in this, but I felt like he was playing himself too much. Edward Norton is also very good as the asshole actor trying to upstage Keaton and Emma Stone is great as a whiny brat. If you're a fan of comic book hero movies and wondered how that sort of fame affects actors, check it out. I honestly didn't know what the movie was until I saw it. Great performances by all and very well directed. Maybe I'll grow to love it over time. I'm kind of lukewarm about it. Seriously, it's like a reality show movie with a lot of drama.
3. John Wick
Pixlbit Nation how are you on this this wet Monday Morning? Currently it is a nice 58 degrees and it rained last night in my corner of Sunny Southern California. This is the final week of Blog A Day and I have to say I might have some BaD spillover next week because I still have a couple of systems to talk about and one of them might be another 2 parter *cough the Original Playstation. Anyways Monday’s are usually reserved for games I’ve been playing but I’d like to get through the second part of the PS2 library so let’s get it started!
Alone in the Dark is a very interesting game series. It was a puzzle horror series that I really didn't know too much about until I watched a retsupurae on the first couple of games. So in 2008 Alone in the Dark was revived by Atari. How did it turn out? Well if you have a PS3 then for less than $10 you can pick up the vastly superior Inferno Edition. In fact, I would recommend it. It's a solid 7/10 game...it has it's flaws, but definitely is the version you should play...the Wii version however...not so much. And today I will discuss why.
In the land of Hyrule, there's a tale about a boy who became a hero...
Hey Pixlbit. It's been a while since I've posted something on here. I've just been waiting for South Park to release so I can write about it. From the very first announcement of this game, I've been anxiously waiting to play it and it's finally here! If you're a fan of the South Park show, you'll definitely love this game. For those who don't really watch it, this game is still fun, but you might not get most of the references the town of South Park has as you progress through the game.
Hello Pixlbit! Hope everyone is having a great day. Yesterday I picked up Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare and so far I've been enjoying it. It's more enjoyable with friends. The game modes that are available are your typical Team Deathmatch called Team Vanquish, Horde Mode called Garden Ops and a mode called Gardens & Graveyards which is like Conquest from the Battlefield series.
Hey Pixlbit, just a quick update for gamers who are getting Thief. Just a heads up, Target is having an exclusive Steelbook Edition of the game and it comes with the Bank Heist DLC that Gamestop is offering as a pre order. I still think Gamestop's pre order is better because it comes with the soundtrack of the game and an exclusive app for Android users.
Hey Pixlbit, currently I am watching the Bobsled event in the Winter Olympics and videos on YouTube. I come across a walkthrough video of Thief and couldn't ignore it. I had to see some current gameplay other than videos from E3 or some other channels who posted some a few months ago. I'll admit, the game looks pretty good. The graphics could use a little work, but the whole stealing aspect is great. One thing I don't understand is the currency in the game. I understand that you use that money for upgrades and what not, but can't you just steal those too? I mean, from what I've seen you steal pricy items from jewlery to silverware.
Hello Pixlbit. Hope everyone had a good Friday. The weekend is almost here which means I'll have some free time to post some stuff. Just thought I should write a blog before the day ends. I was just curious to find out what games you all are looking forward to this year. Feel free to list everything. There might be a title that I could look into that will catch my interest.
Hey Pixlbit. Hope you all are having a great week so far. So lately I've been putting most of my gaming time with Bravely Default and Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag. I recently paid off South Park: The Stick of Truth and have Titanfall pre ordered. For some reason, something came over me and wanted to get a game that's coming out next week, which is Thief and Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare.
Hey Pixlbit. Decided to write something during my spare time. So yesterday, the Pirates of the Caribbean movies were showing on tv. Since there was nothing on, I decided to watch the first three movies. I enjoyed watching them, but after they were finished I had an urge to go back and play Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag. Now since I don't have that many games for my Xbox One, AC is one of the games that I want to sink time into. I've played a few hours or so a week, but had it sitting for a while. Since the release of the Titanfall beta, I've put in more hours into that. So now I'm getting back into AC. I still can't believe how much content is in this game.
