Disclaimer: This blog entry is one that I've worked on for a few days earlier this week but never quite finishing. Work and laziness (at home) contributed to that but it seems that I couldn't decide on where to stop. In continuing the laziness, I've decided to keep (but date) some of these portions so I don't have to rewrite them; they'll be followed up by an update.
Okay, here's the deal. I like doing top 10 lists. For some reason I got it into my head to do a series of top 10s about each year in the 2000's – because hey, that's when I truly became a gamer. I mean, I gamed before then, sure, but this was when I went from kid who plays games sometimes to kid who religiously buys Playstation magazines. And then reads them at school in his lunch break.
Well I hope everyone here is well, I know I havent been around a whole lot but...blame my alienware laptop and the Witcher for that. There the crimnals in this affair, not me! With this laptop ive been able to do way more in the area of PC gaming then I could before. Not to mention its travel handy which I needed for my job. Nightshift can get a bit boring in the caregiving line of business. I mostly been playing the Witcher which I beat about 2 days ago I wanna say. The game was excellent and I loved it. However Im playing the sequel and there are def differences between it and the first game that Im trying to adjust to but im not excatly happy about either. Im still gonna play it and beat it, The story and characters have their claws in my skin so far that I refuse to let some differences deter me! For those who conqured the second game first, i bow to you since you made a pretty good choice compared to my situation but hey thats a video games life, things change during the course of a games line sometimes and we can either continue on or accept game over.
It’s not every day in which you are brutally murdered by your best friend, but when it does happen, you better make damned sure to melt faces and bust the bones of your enemies, for that is the true punk rock thing to do in this certain situation! In an odd case of revenging the vengeance that was dealt against you and your band, Charlie Murder delivers the one-two punch combo with plenty of oomph and style based around neon hair and spikey leather outfits (no, not the kind in my basement involving whips and gags either).
With that new Tropes vs Women video up, I am at the point where I'm just sick of all this negativity in gaming. Not just with gender issues, but everything about it from the industry to reviewers. Now I have been negative on a lot of things, but the amount of negativity towards this industry is just annoying. So, I thought I'd just give some of my own positivity on it and what better way than to show how a trope that is shown to be harmful can be used in a positive manner? So I thought I'd just give an example of it used in a positive way with a game I have recently become obsessed with.
I have a lot of blogs to write and so I figured this would be a good start. Expect to see post after post by me starting tonight *hopefully* through tomorrow and maybe even Sunday night.
Saints Row IV has been banned in Australia. Seriously? WE HAVE AN 18+ RATING NOW! What, aren't adults responsible enough to make up their own fucking decisions? I thought I lived in Australia, not fucking China, where they ban facebook.
I started playing more of my 360. I am enjoying State of Decay. I think its a pretty cool game and a great zombie title. A type of game centered around zombies that should have been out long ago. I can see great zombie games learning from State of Decay. The other game is Metal Gear Revengeance. I had it since it came out and just recently started playing it. I love it. The game is awesome. Platinum truly knows how to give us great action titles. There is another particular action title I am extremely excited about and that is Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. It looks awesome and better than I expected. Here is my early impressions on some games...
I don't normally blog about things other than gaming, but this current situation has summoned up a lot of feelings within me that I wanted to get out. For those who don't follow my twitter, or know me personally, you know that I'm a huge fan of super hero animated series. I've been watching them since I was young, but the ones that have come out over the past 6 or 7 years have been outstanding. However, despite the overall quality of these shows, they end up getting cancelled due to outside factors like toy sales, and merch.
If you’ve been asking for more from your games, then Anarchy Reigns might be just what you need. It’s got more racial stereotypes, more campy dialogue, more leotard-clad dominatrixes, and more ridiculous fighting than you could ever need. If you want to groan at the thought of all of these disgusting and tired gaming fallbacks being crammed together, take heart! The entire crazy package is a total goof and it’s pulled off perfectly in one of the greatest send-ups of video game tropes ever made that’s also genuinely fun.
Something is telling me that I need to unleash my inner cynic and find ways to trash and nitpick Dishonored after it received so much hype. I tried my best to find things that were poorly done or off-putting. All that effort was a waste because everything I found wrong with the game was so minor and unimportant that it made realize that I don’t think I’d change a single thing. Dishonored is one of the rare instances where all of the pre-release excitement and anticipation is completely justified and I’m happy to get to pour on additional praise.
Bethesda has announced that its visually impressive assassin title, Dishonored, will be released on October 9. Published for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, the game looks to have taken ideas from Assassin's Creed and extrapolated them into some new and potentially interesting territory.
Last night, I caught myself on youtube listening to select tracks from the Baten Kaitos OST. While the game is hardly popular, and not to mention about five years old, the game(and its sequel) hold up for a few reasons but one of those has always been its fantastic OST. Baten Kaitos had music in it that completely added to the package of the game. The music sounded calm when necessary, and cool when it wanted to be and it worked. Not only that, but a lot of the songs carry a ton of weight emotionally, which further helped me and even other players connect with the story, world and characters. Listening to some of these songs got me thinking, and one huge factor that is often undermined is the original soundtrack of a game, and how it creates a bond between the gamer and the game itself. The Baten Kaitos series will always be one of my favorite series of all time and the amazing sountrack that Motoi Sakuraba composed is part of my reason for that.
