MagiCat is a fascinating example of a game. While it’s not particularly great, it takes a simple concept and tries everything and anything possible with the idea to see what sticks. Oftentimes it’s frustrating and cheap, other times brilliant and fun, it all depends on what level you’re in and what gimmick is on display.
I went to The Franklin Institute in Philly today to see the Game Masters Exhibit. Then I ran through some more PS2 games to see if I still wanted them. Finally, I got back to Banner Saga 2, trying to get to the end of the story.
June is the month I choose stuff from the years '90-'94. In games this means Sega Genesis and SNES, but I've got other media I'm experiencing too. Here's what's on my plate.

Hidden gems are more often hidden for a reason. As I stated yesterday when talking about Klonoa for the Wonderswan, there are many terrific games that didn't see a western release. So yet again, I am going to discuss another game that wasn't released outside of Japan. This title is is Radia Senki: Reimeihen (AKA: Chronicle of the Radia War) for the Nintendo Famicom.
Started with Okami HD today, then some Romancing Saga 2 while Forza Horizon 3 updated and then FH3 the rest of the time.
I bought Rare Replay again. Also I tried to play Monaco GP on Sega Classics Collection but it was scratched and wouldn't play. I ordered another copy. Then I played Forza Horizon 3 to compete with Mark for achievements.
It’s hard to believe that it’s already been over five years since I helped PixlBit ring in Final Fantasy’s 25th anniversary with an exhaustive retrospective series, but here we are. Even though I missed the actual 30th anniversary of my favorite game franchise, I couldn’t let that milestone pass without doing something to show my love for this epic saga. To that end, I submit to you, our dear readers, my ordered ranking of the fifteen main games in the series. Naturally, this excludes spinoffs like Final Fantasy Tactics and direct sequels like Lightning Returns, and this is very much my list and in no way is PixlBit’s definitive order. But hey, everyone loves a good list, right? Each game features a quick paragraph reprising some of the information from the FF Retrospective, and a more personal take on each entry. I hope you enjoy!
Hello Pixlpeeps and welcome to the Fifth Annual Chris Goes All Awards Show. This is the blog where I look back at the games I’ve played this past year, find the ones that were my favorites among the consoles and handhelds I own and then ramble about them culminating in the one game I call my Game of the Year.
So here I am, Sunday morning not out of bed and watching the last stage of the Tour de France. I was meaning to write this on Friday but I was tinkering with a project that I am still not finished with, and I had a CD Friday trip so I was busy with that. Saturday I was going to write but again I was still tinkering a bit before deciding the weekend is for sleep and being lazy, which leads us to right now. Here I am, watching folks on bicycles finish up one hell of a race. Let's catch up on the non gaming things Chris has been up to.

Here's some of what stood out for me in Nintendo's E3 showcase.
On Friday, February 17th, I had the opportunity to travel to Chicago and check out Nintendo’s upcoming new system—The Switch, as well as fifteen different titles releasing within the Switch’s first year. As a longtime fan of video games, I’d read about events like E3 and press preview events and dream about going to one of these one day. Since I’m not involved in games journalism and live in the Midwest, I never imagined I’d have a chance to attend a preview event. The only time I went to something of this level was Nintendo’s E3 Best Buy event in 2013, where I spent three hours in line so I could play one Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze level. When Nintendo emailed me an invitation to preview the Switch, I immediately snagged two tickets. When I left for the event with my friend Marcus, I expected something similar to that Best Buy preview.

Holy cow. Where has the time gone? The Wii came out my first year in college, so I really didn't get to spend as much time with it as I would have liked in its heyday years but I still enjoyed a bunch of great games. Ploughing through Twilight Princess on my Christmas break in 2006 was sure a tight experience! But rather than list my favorite Wii games ('cause lots of people are doing that)—except Super Mario Galaxy, which is just SO GOOD—let mention a couple in my backlog that I haven't gotten to yet.
Dear America, I just want you to know that this outcome effects more than your shitty country. Has anybody here voted for Trump? I usually don't care who people vote for, but in this particular case, if you've voted for Trump you're a fucking idiot. Right or Left, I don't care which way you lean, Trump is fucking Hitler and you're straight up braindead if he has your support.
