Welcome to a jam-packed Headlines edition of Nerds Without Pants! It’s time to kick off “The-Artist-Formerly-Known-as-E3” season, starting with Sony’s big PlayStation Showcase! It sure was…something. Something that we’ll talk about. Please be excited for it. PLEASE.

Welcome to a wacky episode of Nerds Without Pants! In this episode, we decide the 1998 GotY list because, well…why not? Then we talk a whole mess of games before pitting Shaq vs Kobe in the steel cage!
Happy New Year! Around this time of year, I like to make a list of games that are releasing in the coming year that I’m looking forward to. Of course, this isn’t a full complete list, as there will assuredly be titles announced throughout the year that I may get as well. Heck, last year we didn’t know about Pac-Man World: Re-Pac until late summer, and that ended up being my Game of the Year in 2022! But anyway, here’s what I know now, for the most part, so let’s take a look at what games I’m looking forward to in 2023!
15 Years of Super Mario Galaxy!
My gaming dance card is filled up at least until next summer, when Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches.

It was common practice for game developers to make radical design changes for the first sequel of a popular game in the early NES days. It was no different with Castlevania II: Simon's Quest. Released in North America in 1988, Konami decided that a few changes were in order. The previous game primarily focused on platforming, defeating the boss of the current stage, and moving on to the next location in linear order. Conversely, Simon’s Quest took the series in a new direction with an open, Metroid-esque style of exploration and a few RPG elements to boot. Castlevania had entered a new frontier.
Games of the Decade: Expansion Pass #20/Blog a Day #11
Launch into a new adventure!
Good morning Pixlpeeps! It is Friday (right?) and I am typing this up before I start my day with some leftovers for breakfast. Breakfast of Champions! I think I will continue with my rambling style from Monday to today’s Quick Hits, but I’ll keep the ramblings somewhat organized:
I woke up around 5:30ish and what’s on TV? Clint Eastwood’s Heartbreak Ridge. I own this movie, it’s one of my favorites and it’s on TV so why not watch. Before I went to sleep another one of my favorites The Martian was on. I had some good luck on movies.

After conquering 2018 with the hyper-realistic open-world cowboy simulator, Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar has certainly not been resting on its laurels. As many of you now know, the highly anticipated hyper-realistic open-world crime simulator, Grand Theft Auto 6, has been announced. Thanks to the hundreds of hits my writing for PixlBit has amassed over the past nine years and the runaway popularity of my podcast, Nerds Without Pants (tens of satisfied listeners!) I was given an exclusive look at this upcoming juggernaut. Don’t worry, I got hands-on with this sure to be life-altering video game months before the Covid-19 epidemic. Now that my embargo has been lifted, the story can be told at last!
So there's a scene in the film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood where Leo DiCaprio's character, Rick Dalton, is describing the story of a book he's reading to a younger actor. The book is about a bronco buster named Easy Breezy who had a successful career earlier in his life. He has an accident that, while it doesn't keep him from being a bronco buster, it does hamper him a little physically and a lot mentally. According to Dalton, as Easy hits middle age he feels his best years are behind him and he's feeling more useless (and as he hits that last word, Dalton breaks down in tears). Now, this is mostly Dalton's insecurities and failure to grow as an actor (or person) talking more than his ability to act but I couldn't help thinking about that scene as I've been replaying Super Mario World.
Sorry, not in the mood to do a game post tonight. and apologies for the length.
There’s a new fighting game starring all sorts of video game characters, and no it’s not Smash Bros. If you were upset that Shovel Knight is just an assist trophy in the new Smash, well this may be the game for you. Blade Strangers is a 2-D one-on-one fighter featuring characters from games like Shovel Knight, Code of Princess, Cave Story, The Binding of Isaac, and Umihara Kawase. Since the characters are interesting enough, here’s a blog about them!
Yep, we finally did it, we killed the Ender Dragon in Minecraft for, I think, at least the third time. One for the Xbox 360 version, one for the first Xbox One Version and now for the new and improved Xbox One version. It was definitely harder in this last version, and we both died a few times doing it, but we finally did it, and more.
So I need to type this up quickly because I have an idea for a project that I am working on and I’d like to jump into it. I should be doing that first, but I also have a couple of things I have on my head that I want to share with you good people and if I jump into my project I’ll forget it, so here we are. Kinda crazy but it is all good. So Pixlpeeps let’s get started with another Quick Hits.
June was a crazy month manga wise but video games, not so much. There actually wasnt much I wanted that released in June. Now there were somethings that I just havent gotten around to getting which would be Hollow Knight and Crash Remaster. Crash I can wait on, I played and beat the first 2 games. I played the 3rd but I cannot for the life of me recall if I finished it. Hollow Knight I want (Literally was waiting on the Switch release) but its on hold for a tad. The one game purchase I made that month was Ys 8. Im enjoying it so far, Im just glad I dont have to start over. I was about to pull my hair out.
Only 80s babies will remember these. Anyone heard of them or collect them? I had some when I was a kid and ended up keeping them because they're freakin awesome looking. 2 weeks ago I bought some of the newer ones, which, it seems, are only sold in Japan. They finally arrived today so I threw together an unboxing video full of FACTS!
