Here's my "waiting for a car repair" blog about the 2011 games that I played relatively close to release date in order of Metacritic rating for that year. Also, I'm just noting the system I played the game on, not all available systems.
I ripped through a lot of stuff this week, being impatient to get through it all, the slightest annoyance sending me to the next game in my collection. But, I had a lot of good experiences anyway. I'll break these 360 games into two categories, physical and digital only (or, Xbox Live Arcade as it used to be called).
I got the end credits in 16 games not from 2019. With the glut of games available for nothing (or almost nothing) these days, I’ve gotten very impatient. If something stops me in a game or annoys me too much, I just move on. So the ones I completed were either short or engaged me so well I was willing to push through the annoying bits.
On Saturday I had a blog all typed up because I didn’t want to get out of bed and be productive. After finishing it I didn’t like it so here we are…I’LL READ IT LIVE!!! This opened up more time for me to actually play some games. Crazy, right? Let’s take a quick tour because I think my laundry is almost done.
So this is Southern California the past week: HOT. Last week it was in the 70s, I wore a hoodie (with shorts), the windows were open and everything is good. This week, it is warm there’s no hoodie (still wearing shorts), and yesterday I broke down and turned the AC on. I fought the good fight but it got toasty. After I update you good people on my randomness I will most likely head out to the bank, maybe check out the thrift stores on the way back, and then get an ice coffee before starting the 3 day weekend so let’s get this started.
Last week I decided to connect my Switch Dock to the TV and give the Switch a try on the big screen for a week to see how I like it. I like it but this opened up another door of gaming, here’s why: I have a couple of HDMI ports on the TV, so awhile ago I bought this switcher that adds three extra slots and takes up one HDMI slot on the TV. Plugged it in, connected the USB cable to the TV’s USB to power it and I was back to a couple of years ago when I had a bunch of stuff connected. In this one slot I have my Switch, the return of the 360, and the PS4. I have those connected along with the PS3 and I’m golden but like I said it opened up another door.
I discovered a lot of game deals on PSN the other day and bought a bunch of them. Today I finished Bastion and played some Earth Defense Force 2025 co-op with Mark.
I finished Uncharted 3 today and started Bastion both on PS4. I also set up my PS3 and made it active again.
I promised myself when a real Pokemon game came out for Switch I'd buy it and get into the series but I haven't yet. But every year for Xmas my sister gives me a $50 Amazon card, and I'm gonna use it on Let's Go Pikachu. Casey's review on the front page of Pixlbit is pretty good, so I'm gonna fulfill my promise.
Fable Fortune (XBO, Win). I wish I could rent this, but it will be a downloadable title. A Fable themed anything, even a card game, is ok with me.
I love my Vita, in fact the Vita could be my favorite piece of hardware of all time. It plays a selection PSOne games, PSP games, console quality games and a crap-ton of indies. Essentially, the Vita plays all my favorite games.Shortly after I picked up my Vita, Best Buy had a deal of 32gb memory cards for $45. As I assume you know, that is a steal because the retail price for the 32gb is $99. Well, even with a 32gb memory card I have run out of space. I have over 60 games downloaded on my Vita at the moment, with plenty more on my download list and even more coming in the future. I know Salt & Sanctuary just came out on PS4 this week, but I would rather play it on Vita. Bastion, Axiom Verge, and Volume are in the same boat. I just prefer indie games on the Vita.
Upon finishing up Bloodborne I dived right into Shovel Knight, and finished that game up almost instantly. I was excited for Shovel Knight to finally be on the Vita, but I found myself playing it on the PS4. Typically when I enjoy games on the Vita, I have the volume turned down, but not so when I play on the PS4. This meant that a lot of the music from Shovel Knight got stuck in my head. That soundtrack is so good. Anyway, I finished the game fairly quickly and went trophy hunting until I let frustration get the best of me.
This is definitely the latest I've ever posted one of these recaps. I had the one-two punch moving last week, not having internet, and then heading straight back to work. (I guess that's three punches lol.) The new apartment is great but we still have stuff everywhere. But that's not what I'm here to talk about, so let's get to it!
We all have bad gaming habits or asspirations we've yet to achieve, the year will soon come to an end and a new one will bring about different oppotunities in real life as wel as virtual.
It's certainly close to that time of the year, when the Steam Christmas sales have just begun, people now wait for a fat man to go down a chimney (or if you live in Colombia and some other Latin American countries, baby Jesus somehow being able to give gifts) and many media websites are just making, just made or are about to make their end of the year lists and video game media is no exception.
Sony kicked off their first day of their event to a great start. Now just hopeing they end it off tomorrow in a good way too. I knew this was gonna be a big event for them. This is was gonna be their big push to make some final holiday/beginning of the year sales. Here were some of the annoucements.

I've been way too lazy lately to blog and Tumblr doesn't help, but because I can't live without doing atleast a blog every month, here's a very quick update on some things from mid-April until now:
Following Supergiant’s critically acclaimed game Bastion, Transistor comes off as a very similar game, initially at least. Transistor quickly forms an identity of its own, boasting a unique battle system and an intriguing story. I found myself getting wrapped into Transistor’s many layers, whether it was exploring the city of Cloudbank, discovering the motives behind the mysterious Camerata, or strategically managing my abilities to give me that extra edge in combat. Transistor is a riveting and memorable experience from beginning to end.
I don't really have much new going on around here. The biggest thing to note is that our trip to Japan starts in a couple of weeks...
