I had a half day of gaming today because of family, but that's ok. There's still a bunch of stuff to mention as I continue to churn through my quick-play playlist.

Cary's Top Five Favorite Indie Game Characters!

Lately I’ve been working on reviewing a lot of downloadable indie Wii U games lately.  I’ve got four on my list right now, with a good possibility of more to come later.  The Wii U has been doing a pretty good job of having a sizable list of indie games in their eShop roster lately.  They’ve been a godsend since it’s getting harder and harder to review mainstream titles recently.  And it got me to thinking about my favorite indie video game characters.  So here’s a blog about that.  Enjoy!

In less than 5-6 hours, the weather in my area will go from lovely sunshiney skies to freezing rain, followed by sleet and then possibly at least 3 feet of snow. It blows my mind when temperatures change so dramatically in the course of day (as it did yesterday when it reached 68 degrees only to plummet to 25 at night) but that's the nature of winter weather. I dread this time of year because of all of the damage that snow/ice-storms can do to my life. Obviously I'm worried that it might hurt my truck in some way. It can also affect the roads, which cancels work and the ability to travel. Last year this time, I lost 15 days of work due to repeated snow and ice storms; in some cases, I was unable to get out of my fucking parking lot (no way in hell will anyone clear the snow and ice out of that area) so I couldn't leave if I wanted to.

Keep it positive, San Diego.

Boy, 2014 was a rough year to be in this gaming thing, hasn’t it? Disappointing games, crushing release date delays, and more scandal than you can shake a stick at have all detracted from why we are all here. In the current stormy waters it can become easy to lose sight of why video games are so great, as well as the fact that every person behind one of these online avatars is an honest to goodness person that also happens to love this hobby. PixlBit is here as an island of calm and hope in a sea of turmoil, and we can think of no better way to remember why we still love games than by putting together a massive feature that involves our passionate staff and our incredibly talented bloggers. We are gamers. We are writers. And this is why we game.

It's certainly close to that time of the year, when the Steam Christmas sales have just begun, people now wait for a fat man to go down a chimney (or if you live in Colombia and some other Latin American countries, baby Jesus somehow being able to give gifts) and many media websites are just making, just made or are about to make their end of the year lists and video game media is no exception.

Okay, here's the deal. I like doing top 10 lists. For some reason I got it into my head to do a series of top 10s about each year in the 2000's – because hey, that's when I truly became a gamer. I mean, I gamed before then, sure, but this was when I went from kid who plays games sometimes to kid who religiously buys Playstation magazines.

Im really fustrated with this game and Im about to uninstall it. I know free games kind of try to rely on paid microtranscations but the Family Guy game gets ridiclous. I began to get fustrated when they  literally gave me a quest that requires  me to buy something with actual money. I wiped it off and just have left it where it is on my side menu. Then throught  the  circus  I  finally made several connections. Several of the characters are locked behind clam buys which requires actual money as well as items that would have given me the rest of the circus items needed to make Peters clown outfit. The only free way is to get the clowns which dont pop up enough, oh and there is only one item you can buy with coins from the game to get the cotton candy item but thats it.  Games normally dont overkill it like this even for free to play. This is ridiclousness so if that sort of thing annoys you do not download the game, just avoid it.

Those of you who know me or are familiar with my blogs and articles know that I love Kirby games.  It’s probably my favorite Nintendo franchise.  I like Kirby games better than Metroid, better than Zelda, heck, even more than Mario games!  So in honor of the release of Kirby Triple Deluxe on the 3DS, here’s a Kirby blog to celebrate!  In this one, we’ll look at five Kirby games that I think they should make next!

BaD: Day One: Movies to Look Forward To

I'm posting this under the assumption that the BaD-themed blogs were to start on the 3rd. If not, fuck it. It's the best I can do. I figure I start this off with 2014 movies that I'm anticipating. Tomorrow I'll focus on music, the next day games. Maybe I'll deal with books or television but I'm all over the place on those categories (old and new) so that'll be trickier. I'll think of something. Currently I'm stuck home due to snow, missing another day of work so I'll have plenty of time to brainstorm.

Hey Pixlbit! Because it’s Thanksgiving Week, and I have family visiting I probably won’t have time to do a proper Quick Hits blog on Friday, because I will either be a.) walking around Target buying a bunch of Black Friday stuff b.) eating pumpkin pie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner c.) hanging out the family. Because of this I thought I’d start this blog early (I also need something to do because I’m currently doing laundry and I don’t want to fold and put away my clothes).

Looking for a hardcore puzzle game? You've found it.

There are casual games, and then there is Toki Tori 2+, the Lord of the Rings of devilish puzzle games: epic, gargantuan, and deep as hell.  It may look cute and innocent at first, but have no doubt, this game is both immensely creative and insanely difficult.  Try as I did, I was ultimately unable to beat it after three weeks of battling its fiendish design.  While I’m disappointed in myself, I realize that a lot of gamers are going to suffer some of the same problems I did with it, and while it’s a great game I have left unfinished, I still have a lot to say about it.
