Got the following games. What is it will old games holding their value at Gamestop these days? My current theory is that because people are buying digitally instead of physical, there are less trade-ins and so prices go up for what Gamestop has in physical copies. The theory doesn't seem to fit for last gen games though. I'm paying like $10 a game right now and they should be more like $5. It's annoying to me. Here's the list for today:

Welcome back to Nerds Without Pants! We’re a nerd down, but that doesn’t stop Julian and Angelo from getting together to talk some Consumption Junction stuff. So join us for a meandering and random edition that’s…quite a lot of fun, actually!
Well, it looks like Nerds Without Pants is reaching the end of Chrono Crossing. I didn't consistently participate in it, and I regret that. But I enjoyed talking about my favorite games of every year. Brought back a lot of memories.
I realized I had space on my computer today so I installed Stellaris again, and hope to play it a little later. But at the same time, I'm kind of pissed I need to play it on my computer - why can't I play it on my Switch? Though it is not without it's flaws, as far as I'm concerned, console gaming is sort of perfect with the Switch in that I can either play at my TV - or anywhere, without skipping a beat. While the Switch is certainly getting its share of games as time goes on, every game I want to play I end up wishing I had on the Switch. It's kind of a fucked up curse. I look at my other consoles and say to myself: "Why can't you be more like the Switch?" I end up wishing Dragon Quest VIII wasn't on 3DS, but Switch. The same for the new Final Fantasy IX and even Final Fantasy 12, which I have also been playing. If I could play these on Switch, I think I would be more productive with them.
...I don't know if it's me or the game. I mean, obviously, I have a problem finishing games. I tend to get 3/4 through and just lose steam. Lately this has been true of Andromeda and Final Fantasy XV. Well, it finally happened in Zelda. But like the other games, I'm not really tired of it, in fact, I'm excited about seeing the rest of it. I've just lost momentum, and when I do play, it's only in short bursts rather than in marathon sessions.
So what's your favourite? If you're having trouble, allow me to give some examples:
National StreetPass Weekend happens on Friday 4/12 and goes through 4/16. I checked all my Nintendo Zones in the area and will go to a few of them to see what pops up in Mii Plaza on 3DS. I finished with the Bravely Second demo the other day, so I need more Miis for the Mii Plaza games. I suppose some celebrity Miis will show up. There will also be special stuff for a list of specific games that use StreetPass. Unfortuneately, I don't have Dragon Quest VII anymore to check out the neat photo feature. Check out the full list and details at the official page.
Well the one that can be accessed before beating the game that is. The Altar of Wroth. Stumbled upon the requirements to open it by accident, then just followed the clues. The boss was a pain in the ass even at level 59. Left Angus and Red both dead and Angelo petrified so no Kazing spell to bring them back.
I've put down Dragon Quest VIII for a while after a frustrating party wipe by Marcello. I didn't think I was going to have a problem given that my entire team is in the mid 50's as far as levels go and at first I was doing fine. Then he casts Thwack (insta-kill) two turns in a row and takes out everyone.
Well it's no secret that I'm playing Dragon Quest VIII. I spent most of yesterday and today playing and I've put in 46 hours altogether.
Well I've missed most of this week due to personal issues but I did manage to put some time into Dragon Quest VIII. Like many I played this game back on PS2 but let me tell you it is worth playing again on 3DS.
This is a quick and not quite under the wire blog. In my defense, I was trapped under a cute, snuggly, sleeping cat who couldn't be disturbed. So I entertained myself by watching High Noon while trapped. Great movie, by the way, if you haven't seen it.
Last few years I've been keeping a spreadsheet of all the media I've experienced. I've got games, books, movies, and music recorded. Let's do games.
Season's warnings, PixlBit community! I thought I'd bestir myself and write a quick blog.
Played a bunch of games today and almost all of them frustrated the heck out of me. Here goes.
I got Doom this weekend on a Gamestop sale - $20. Then I traded some stuff in and got it for $2. Then I was going to play it all weekend, but got sidetracked by Minecraft. I just saw my friend Mark playing it and decided it was more fun to play with others than by myself.
Every once in a while I switch up how I think about video games. It's something I do because I love the passtime and often feel overwelmed by all the choices out there. Also, I don't want to go broke, and a good plan can keep me under control - I think. So here's my wacked out plan.
After seeing the films Inferno and Dr. Strange this weekend, I finally got some gaming in. I played through both volumes of Atari games on the XBO, probably a hundred games, and I put in some time with XCOM 2. Details below.
I've been making slow progress on Dragon Quest VII on 3DS during the week. I just got to Alltrades Abbey after 26 hours of gameplay. So far I haven't been mightily challenged by the game but there's been a few moments when things got tense, and I nearly lost my party. Be prepared, when doing seemingly mundane things, like searching rooms and opening chests, a rare surprise might have you fighting for your life when you least expect it.
So I got Titanfall today with some birthday money, two copies, one for me and one for Mark. They were $8 each for XBO. I always wanted to try this game out. Well, while waiting for the install, I played a bit more Doom II and then this free-to-play game Battle Islands. Details follow.
It's very frustrating to lose soldiers you've carefully customized and promoted after several victories. One mistake in a mission and you pay with lives; not just with injury, but permadeath. It makes one want to stop customizing these soliders. What's the point when they will die just after making lieutentant.
Started the day with some XCOM 2. Made some progress on my restart of the game. I got a "Flawless" rating on one mission and I haven't lost a single soldier yet. I'm focusing on weapons upgrades and built a Guerilla Training Facility that gives rookies some skills before their first action. I'm beginning to figure out how to use Overwatch and how to move soldiers across the battlefield without getting caught in the line of fire. This game reminded me today of the board game Squad Leader I used to play. There's a lot of choices for types of action every turn and there are environmental hazards like fire. Note to self: don't take cover behind a buring car. Usually they blow up after a turn or two killing everyone.
So I finished up with Skylanders Superchargers. I got every achievement except the one where you have to beat the game on Nightmare difficulty. I played several levels at that setting and it was fine until I hit a certain boss that seemed mostly unfair. The difficulty being just that you take much more damage from hits than other skill levels. I went through every Skylander I had and then played it again with my highest level ones first and still couldn't beat that thing. I can only imagine how bosses in the later stages of the game will be - nigh impossible. Of course, as you level up the portal, you gain abilities that help with Nightmare mode but I was well over level 70 and didn't feel like grinding a whole lot more. I did pull out all the Skylander characters I had and tried them out. That was fun. Each figure has very unique abilites that evolve as you level them up. I almost wanted to just level up all the figures just to see their special powers. Maybe with a half dozen level 20s (max level) I could handle Nightmare mode. It just seemed more work than I wanted to put into it. Maybe I'll dive in again someday when I want a serious challenge. I'm not trading in any of this stuff. I like them too much.
