It’s 2022 and this is the first Monday of the new year. Good morning Pixlpeeps! There is a lot happening on my end right now so I’m a little (a lot) preoccupied with bigger things, but it is what it is. I did however say that I am going to be here more and it is the new year so I’m here. So a quick update of what’s been going on:
WarioWare: Get it Together was recently released on Switch, so in honor of that, I wanted to write a blog about it! At first I thought about talking about all the games in the WarioWare series, but I did that last time a new WarioWare game came out, so you can just read that blog here if you want. Not much would’ve changed anyway if I did it again. But WarioWare: Get it Together has a focus on characters, so I figured I’d go over all the crazy characters in the series and how they play in this game! So let’s get started!
Games of the Decade: Expansion Pass #9/Blog a Day #22
So I’m trying to get back on track and finish 2019 strong by keeping up with my blog posts. I finished breakfast, have a couple of minutes to jot down my ramblings and see what I can remember playing over the past week or so. Sound fun? Let’s go!
I consider myself a plugged in gamer. I take it as a matter of professional pride to keep tabs on all manner of games, even if I’m not personally interested in them. So imagine my surprise to learn that I’ve spent the last twelve years thinking the Yakuza series was just a low budget version of Grand Theft Auto, only to find out it’s actually a super deep roleplaying game. This was a pleasant surprise as I worked my way through Yakuza Kiwami 2, my first true foray into the franchise.
So, while Yakuza 0 quickly became one of my favorite games of all time when I rented and eventually bought it last year, the remake of the original Yakuza game, subtitled Kiwami (meaning "extreme" in Japan) really brings attention to and intensifies some of the issues I had with the former game.
Sometimes after BaD, I'll do my own little thing where I just log any gaming I did during the week and call it Game Log a Day. Almost no one participates (I think coolseltzer did a year or two, but I'm not remembering who else) and it doesn't have the cool history behind it BaD does, but I do it.
I got a text from my old manager yesterday that said, "check out Exton Square Mall Round 1". I thought it might be some horrible news of a fight or other disaster. Instead it was a new entertainment center called Round 1. They have locations on both coasts. Today, I went there to check it out.
Don't think I read much in 1996 unless you count sheet music. Read a bunch of that stuff for bass. I did notice that George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones came out that year. I guess I gotta check it out since it's such a huge monster these days.
Good morning Pixlbit Nation, how are you on this fine Thursday morning? It is a cool 45 degrees here in sunny Southern California, and while I am enjoying a nice donut, I thought it was about time I talk about my absolute favorite console that I own, the Playstation 2. Let’s take a trip back to when I bought my Playstation 2. It was a year or so after it’s release (remember when everyone was hoarding them and trying to resell them on eBay?) Well I waited because I didn’t want to spend the crazy cash for it, and I was deciding on which console to buy, the X-Box, or the PS2. I loved the Playstation brand but I was willing to try something new, but it all came down to one thing: which one will play DVDs. See before this I had a DVD player but my brother moved into his own spot and I gave him my DVD player and watching on a computer monitor wasn’t the most ideal thing. The X-Box needed a separate remote in order to play DVDs and the PS2 not so much, so after class I went down to the local Walmart and bought a PS2. The first game I played on my new PS2? Madden 2002…for the original Playstation. Yeah I didn’t buy a PS2 game until the next week.
Pixlbit nation, it is only a couple of days until a fat dude in red hands out gifts. Isn’t it an exciting time? I do love the Christmas season. The cool weather, people decorating their homes, the music, and buzz at malls. Ok the last one is kind of funky but I do dig it. Anyways since this is my ultra rare Quick Hits, Christmas Special Tin Case Day One Edition With Pre-Order Bonus, anything you good people are hoping to get? As an adult I still like to look under the tree to find boxes with my name on it, so I’m hoping for presents. I don’t care if it is clothes, toys, video games, just as long as I get something to open! Anyways let’s get this special combo blog started shall we?
Well Happy Friday you crazy Pixlbiticans! Currently in my little piece of what is usually Sunny Southern California it is 48 degrees and cool enough for hockey jersey weather! Yes what is usually my favorite time of the year because I get to wear my favorite jerseys but the jersey that I always wear first is this one
Finished it last night sooner than I meant to. I accidentally started the last story mission before I was ready to, and didn't have a back up save from before the start of the mission. Oops.
I've been in a gaming slump all summer, and most of the spring, as well. I think I might have played a little Pinball Arcade, but that was pretty much it. My poor consoles sat, neglected and collecting dust, until last weekend. I was stuck at home due to mechanical failure of my normally (until this year) reliable 1999 Subaru Outback. I was also very bummed out about this because it happened on my way to my gramma's 90th birthday party, which I'd made them change the date for, by the way. As I looked around my small living space, I realized that the dust bunnies were taking over. I hauled out the vacuum cleaner and went to town, until I got to the TV stand. Once I got the TV, stand, and consoles clean, that was the end of the cleaning spree.
Ok Pixlbit I am back for Part 2 of my Quick Hits Chris Is Back Form Hawai’i blog. Now last time I went over how I started my trip (Thanks United) and some of the things I did on the islands. Today I thought I’d mention some of the actual gaming that went on. I mean c’mon this is a gaming blog I should mention the handful of times I whipped out the Vita, 3DS XL, and the tablets right? I also have some other pickups I’d like to mention as well so let’s get started before I force myself to eat Oatmeal.
Well Happy Tuesday Pixlbit! Oh the end of BaD is coming but we still have some things to write and pictures to share so let’s keep it going! For today’s Grab Bag Week topic, I thought I’d share one of my newer favorite albums that I happened to stumble upon.
Whenever a new console comes out, like the Xbox One, I like to take a look at the one that came before it and honor that one with a list of my favorite games for it. A couple of weeks ago I did that with the PS3, and now we’ll do that with the Xbox 360.
This game is really the one that put persona on the triple A game mark. Persona 3 is a drastic departure from the rest of the Megami Tensei series. Although it still focuses on demon-fighting high schoolers in modern day Japan, the game is a hybrid of a dungeon crawling RPG (think Diablo) and a life/dating sim.
Recently I got Game & Wario for Wii U. It’s in the WarioWare series of titles, but they probably didn’t use the name because the games are a bit different this time around. More like longer mini-games instead of the two second microgames of the past. They spoof Game & Watch with the title, and the start screen for each game feature cheesy ‘box art’ for every mini-game. So as I always like to do with these kinds of things, here’s a rundown of the mini-games you can play in Game & Wario.
