I generally don't get excited for E3 anymore. I have too many great unplayed games as is. But I'm always down for something from Arkane (of Dishonored and Prey fame) and they've got a trippy new game that looks pretty cool.

Smile for the camera!

I have been a fan of the survival horror genre since Capcom coined the term to describe their release of Resident Evil way back for the original PlayStation. It’s been a long time since the heyday of the horror game, and getting your scares on consoles has become a rarity. So I was pleasantly surprised that, not only did I enjoy The Evil Within 2 after finding the first game lacking, but it has become one of my favorite entries in the survival horror genre.

I may be a fool but I am proud of my damn foolishness. It was a couple summers ago and me and my friend Evan ventured out on a video game called Resident Evil Remake for the Gamecube.

The Last of Us was an incredible fun and unique experience that had a lasting story. I love creative and unique experiences. There is a lot more new IPs coming on current and next gen titles. Here are ten titles I am excited to play this year.

Despite the retail setbacks of the first game, Grasshopper wants another crack at it.

Last year’s Shadows of the Damned was well-known for two things. The Grasshopper Manufacture game was a dream collaboration of Suda 51 (No More Heroes), Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), and Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil). It was also a colossal flop, selling a meager 24,000 copies in its first week on store shelves. Not a company to be held down by disappointing sales, it sounds like Grasshopper is eager to do another chapter in the life of Garcia F’ing Hotspur.

Easily the best work of Suda51 thus far, but it’s still rough around the edges.

Shadows of the Damned is clearly Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture’s most polished game yet. Whether it’s due to the influence of Shinji Mikami as the creative producer or due to some maturation of Suda51’s style and execution is unclear, but the 10 hour romp through hell is chock full of style, humor, and solid gameplay that trips only slightly along the way. While Suda51’s previous titles can be a bit tough to get into for the average player, Shadows of the Damned is much more accessible and will likely appeal to a much greater audience – assuming they can tolerate the never ending onslaught of penis jokes.

Nick provides his initial impressions of the just released third person shooter from Suda51, Shinji Mikami, and Akira Yamaoka.

Yesterday, we had our first chance to play the long-awaited title from Grasshopper Manufacture and EA. Of course, the game is also known as the super project between fan-favorite, Suda51, and Resident Evil creator, Shinji Mikami. As a fan of both developers involved, Shadows of the Damned has long been on my must-have list, so I’m excited to report that the game thus far is living up to my expectations.

Can Nintendo’s anthropomorphic wingmen make a comeback? Sure they can. The question is who will make it possible.

What the hell happened to Star Fox? Despite Nintendo being famous for developing and publishing high quality games, the Star Fox series has taken a nosedive. I loved both Star Fox on the SNES, its unreleased sequel for the same system and Star Fox 64, one of the best Nintendo 64 games ever.
