Welcome to another episode of PixlTalk! This week is another solocast featuring Nick and in a similar format to the last couple weeks. Nick chats about some of the site upgrades and demonstrates how to use a couple different features. He also enumerates exactly what features are coming next to keep an eye out for. He also talks a bit about his time with Penny's Big Breakaway and Agent 64. Finally, the podcast's main topic covers trends in gaming, both from the AAA and indie space.
This week, Nick returns for another solo cast of PixlTalk! Starting with site updates, Nick details what changes he's been making and the progress on some new features that are coming soon. Next he goes through some of his Pseudoregalia and Super Kiwi 64 thoughts, as those are the games he's been playing lately, followed by what he'll be playing next. Finally, the main topic - Engineering the Fun Out. Nick talks about his experience with the new 3D Zelda games and how he manages to completely ruin the experience for himself, despite not really wanting to.
After a very long hiatus, PixlTalk is back for Episode 83. For now, you'll only be able to watch this episode on YouTube, but soon the RSS feed will be updated appropriately in order to bring all of the PixlBit podcasts together into a single feed. In this episode, Nick discusses the state of the industry after both Sony's digital-only announcement and Microsoft's huge layoffs, the games he's been playing recently, and a little bit of site information and where things are going next. Howdy everyone! Just quickly checking in. As it turns out, with everything going on today, I totally forgot to post for today earlier! What to report...
It’s absolutely dumbfounding to think that PixlBit has existed in this world for five years now. I can’t even begin to tell you all how many times Chessa and I considered hanging it up and just moving on with life. But we never did and I’m not sure why that is. The early days were grim at times; visitation was extremely low, the hours invested were high, and my day job was absolutely soul crushing. I guess we always felt there was a light at the end of the tunnel – a point at which it would all pay off. And boy has it.
As I sit here writing this, I’m in shock and a little stunned. We just released the 50th episode of Nerds Without Pants, and I can’t believe we’ve come this far. I’m kind of known for my self-deprecating nature, and anyone who’s ever listened to the show can attest to this. With that said, I’d like to take a little time to toot our own horn, thank some people, and point out my ten favorite episodes we’ve done so far.
We all know that death and taxes are inevitable, but we might want to add PixlTalk taking at least a few months to produce a new episode to that list. In any event, it's given us plenty of time to build up some energy for a lively discussion with returned staff member, Nate Hascup!
Yes, it's true. PixlTalk is still alive despite an almost year long hiatus. Between moves and children being born and a slew of other excuses events, we haven't had an opportunity to get together to do one of these in a very long time. After a short hiatus and some failed podcasts post-New York Comic Con, episode 80 has finally come to fruition. And not a moment too late, as the crew for this episode (Nick, Jason, and JD) all have their Deluxe Wii Us and are excited to talk about them.
On October 26, the latest video game movie and second Silent Hill film, Silent Hill: Revelation 3D will arrive in theaters. Given the impending release of the film, I had an opportunity to talk with writer and director, Michael J. Bassett about the film. Though it continues the story arc of the first film, it also roughly chronicles the events of Silent Hill 3 and protagonist Heather Mason.
Well, it's official. Nick and Chessa now have their copy of Borderlands 2 and have spent quite a bit of time online with fellow PixlTalker, Jason Ross, hunting vaults. Joaquim, despite not having Borderlands 2, still joins in on the Borderlands fun with his GOTY copy of the original game. The crew serves up some comparisons of the two games, talks their experiences with both, and for good measure, Nick even throws in his 2 cents on the latest from Team Ninja, Dead or Alive 5.
After making a few predictions last week, Jason and Nick sit down to discuss the results of Nintendo's Wii U Press Event and the events that have followed. Nintendo TVii gets some air time and its potential operability is discussed in detail. The conversation also covers the pricing structures of the system, as well as the strength of the launch line-up and window.
This past Monday night, Jason, Nick, and Joaquim sat down to record the latest episode of PixlTalk after the crew took a week off for the holidays. We talk Xenoblade, Mass Effect 3, and Borderlands 2. As the title indicates, we take on the "Girlfriend Mode" controversy head on and discuss just how ridiculous the outrage of the comments were.
It has been quite an uneventful week, but we're still playing video games. JD, Jason, and Joaquim talk about their experiences with what they're currently playing. We then introduce a new segment which rumors say is called "Rumor Mongering," and then head on to discuss the iOS release of "The World Ends with You", and end the podcast with a quick chat on the supposed Wii U release date leak by PDP.

Nick delves into Papo & Yo and Joaquim talks Pro Evolution Soccer. What we've been playing gives way to a bit of news discussion, focused mainly around the ABC bankruptcy of OnLive and its prompt segue to a new investor. The original (well, sort of) crew of PixlTalk is back this week as they reclaim the podcast that has been under the loving care of our previous two crews for the past few months. Coming back into the show we wanted to do something new and fresh that would shake up the original format and keep things moving at a steady rate.
Big changes are coming here at PixlBit when it comes to our podcasts. For the past few months, our flagship show—PixlTalk—has been brought to you by alternating teams: The Hell Block Heroes and the Tri-Force crew. We’d like to take this time to announce a new format for PixlTalk, as well as two new shows for your listening pleasure.

Rock, pop, country, classical, hip-hop, folk, the list goes on. Whether its popular or underground, I am constantly looking and listening to different kinds of music. So in this new blog series, I'll nerd out on different music that I like or dislike. Topics will vary from artists to albums to genres to anything I can think of. As long as it's music related I'll discuss it in this series.
