Nintendo and Namco have worked together a lot in the past.  Namco’s good at making arcade baseball games, so Nintendo had them do some Mario baseball titles.  Namco’s Taiko drum music games were a hit in Japan, so Nintendo had them do Donkey Konga.  And Namco also is known for racing and fighting games, so they helped Nintendo with the arcade Mario Karts and recent Smash Bros. games.  So when Nintendo wanted to make a Pokémon fighting game, Namco was up to the task again, since they are known for fighters like Tekken.  In fact, that’s why the Pokémon fighter is called Pokken, as a combination of Pokémon and Tekken.  So I thought in this blog we’d take a quick look at the game and check out which Pokémon you can play as!

It's certainly close to that time of the year, when the Steam Christmas sales have just begun, people now wait for a fat man to go down a chimney (or if you live in Colombia and some other Latin American countries, baby Jesus somehow being able to give gifts) and many media websites are just making, just made or are about to make their end of the year lists and video game media is no exception.

After Final Round XVII, an Atlanta-based fighting game tournament (which was awesome this year, BTW), Capcom had a special announcement on deck.

Fighting games can be a diverse genre of video games. However, that diversity can often be over shadowed by the same handful of franchises and companies that have much larger presences. Although the tides are turning and new fighting game IP s are now more that ever making their presence known though the indie scene. Today, we're taking a look at a few of the many indie fighting games that are emerging this year. Some games are playable right now while other games plan to use crowd funding later this year. These games, however, provide a healthy alternative and bring (or in some cases could bring) new life into the fighting game genre.

Let's be honest, 2013 wasn't a great year for fighting games. Not terrible in a long stretch, but in comparison to previous years. 2014, in comparison, is looking to be big. Really, big. So big that to explain it all I have to split it between 3 separate blogs (and even then its still not big enough to explain it all). But today we start big with the 4 biggest fighting games to look forward to this year (so far). Featuring a plethora styles, genres, and even a new franchise too. A diverse set of fighting games that should appeal to everyone.

For my new friends here on PixlBit, I do these kind of blogs every year.  I've been doing them since 2007 back on 1UP.com.  I started doing these blogs to show off my collection of games and to try curving my game buying addiction that has grown over the years.  Buying games wouldn't be so bad if I actually played most of the games I bought.  My backlog is ridiculous.  On top on that, I have a growing family to take care of.  My wife & I had our 5th child this year. Smile  One bonus I didn't account for, from doing these blogs, is that they help me keep track of the games I buy.  You wouldn't believe the number of times I'm thinking about buying a game I really want and I go back to one of my old Game Purchases blogs and find out I already own the damn thing. Embarassed  It doesn't happen often, but this year I double bought 3 games.  I don't sell games, so I'm thinking about giving them away or maybe if someone has a game I don't have is willing to do a trade. Undecided

An Interview with Super Smash Bros Expert, Prog

If you enjoy fighting games, you probably know a little something about the EVOlution Championship Series. Even if you don’t, you might want to, as the tournament is not only entertaining to veterans, but also great for newcomers to see what kinds of fighting experiences are out there. This year in particular has a huge amount of variety, with NINE different games being played. Whether you’re into 2D fighters, 3D fighters, super heroes, or technical execution based games, there is something for everyone.

Even though Namco Bandai is my favorite video game company, of the three game makers featured in Project X-Zone, I’m probably more familiar with the Capcom roster in this 3DS action strategy RPG featuring heroes and villains from Namco Bandai, Capcom, and SEGA’s games.  Since last time we looked at the Namco Bandai characters found in Project X-Zone, this time we’ll look at the Capcom ones.

Hey there folks. I'm changing things up today, again. Originally I was going to write about Killer Instict but there was a huge news overload that came out of EVO, that was too good to pass up. Then again, EVO is like the E3 for fighters, so there's been a bunch of news that's been flooding out from Las Vegas. So today we're taking a look at all that and few other interesting bits that have come out within the last week or so.

Hello, everyone! Before we jump into today's topic, I wanted to show off something that really cool that EVO started last year, the EVO Indie Showcase. The EVO Indie Showcase, incorporation with Capy Games' president Nathan Vella, showcases some of the newest and interesting rising talent in gaming. Surprisingly most of the games shown at the Showcase are not fighting game related. For example, Spy Party was shown last year and is returning to the showcase. This year features many returning games as well as some new and familiar faces like Towerfall.
